Ok still on a high over this Harden trade and the great win tonight however my question is after the all star break how do we line up our rotation. I'm not sure on the righty lefty situation on how they are going to want that to play out.

Obviously Z is first for sure no matter what I'm sure of that, but how do you line up the rest.

Do you go Z, Harden, Lily, Dempster, & also who takes the fifth spot I would love to see Marshall get the nod but I'm afraid they will go with Marquis.

Or do you maybe put Harden fourth I know it sounds crazy, but maybe limit his starts slightly to avoid injury? I assume Lily will have to be third at least due to the righty lefty combo thing so what is everyone else's thoughts on this.

With off days and weather, the rotation is likely to be jumbled calling for a reset for, hopefully, a playoff series.

Depending on Dempster and Z pitching in the All-Star game, I believe Lou would be best served coming out the gate with his rested pitchers.  Lilly, Harden,Marshall/Marquis, Zambrano, Dempster perhaps.  Let's just hope the guys stay healthy and strong and 2 or 3 get really hot for an extended period.  We think the Cubs have the horses, now, they have to run.

Well, any way you look at it, our rotation is improved w/ Carlos Zambrano, Ryan Dempster, Ted Lilly, Rich Harden, and probably Jason Marquis (I fail to see what's so terrible about him, he's a proto-typical #5 starter (if there's such a thing)).  I'm happier w/ this rotation, now we might need to shop for a lefty arm out of the bullpen, but maybe not, we'll see..

People make way to much out of the all star game it is 1 inning if that sometimes especially since the lame rule change of home field some guys might not even see the field sadly or may even face one batter and throw one pitch for crying out loud.

I don't think there is anyway Z can not be starting first you want Z pitching as many starts as possibly one less start because he is fifth could be the difference he is a lock for the top spot.

The question is where do you pitch everyone else I love that we even have to discuss this it just shows how great our rotation really is going to be.

Marquis has been pitching slightly better lately so I guess I won't complain although I like what Marshall has been doing for us.

I'm liking Zambrano, Lilly, Dempster, Harden and then Marquis. I agree that Marquis is not a bad #5 right now, he has pitched pretty well lately. I really believe that Marshall is needed in the bullpen right now with Cotts being the only lefty out there. Marshal had a great outing last time, but I think he has a better mindset  than Marquis when it comes to the bullpen. Marquis has made it known since spring that he doesn't want to pitch out of the pen. Personaly, I think he should do whatever is best for the team, but that doesn't always enter into some guys egos.
