Guys,

Some things that matter about getting into the HOF (Hall Of Fame) is how pears view the player, voters who do there research usually call on people who played against the candidate for input. This article is a reflection of the feedback voters will hear about when researching Ward.

well as much as i love Hines Ward i dont think he will get the nod into the hall of fame.  what he does week in and week out dont show up in the box score or on the back of a football card.  now a day, you need to put up stupid numbers and hines just did not play in that style of  O long enough.  see his is not a burner, a home run guy, he is not they type of guy who gets on espn every week with his 8 catches simply because he is not flashy.  it is sad to say that, but i feel it is true.  other players and other coaches notice what a player does week in and week out but after not being in the game for 5 years will his numbers and legacy be big enough to put him over the top?  He will get my vote but i just think he will get lost in the shuffle with the tory holt numbers, the moss numbers, the chad johonson numbers, the TO numbers, and all of the other padded stats that will be thrown up there.

see the Steelers are built on a team concept, built to win games not to see how many madden covers they get, or how many times they get on espn, or how many sportis illustrated covers they have.  the steelers have a system, and a plan and that is basically why I love the steelers, because they are different than the rest.

Its really hard to tell about HOFers.  Its tough to play in the league for a long time, play well, and make a lasting impression that keeps that players name (and the way they played) fresh in peoples mind 5+ years after they hang it up.

Hines has not blown people away with his numbers and won't make people remember him for that, unless he has an amazing season in the next couple of years that's a career best (which I think he still can).  He just needs to stay healthy and have a good offense that still features him, which might not be so far-fetched. IF he stays healthy.

Either way, he's a HOFer in my book.  He's one of the best players on my favorite team, and played the game the way its meant to be.  That's how most Steeler fans will remember him, and no one who has ever played against him or watched him play will ever forget that about #86.

hopefully he can keep his #1 spot as a reciever and hold off Santonio Holmes for a couple more years so he can have a chance to have a few more great years to make his chances better for the HOF.

though i think itll be hard becuase santonio is quickly becoming big ben's favorite target, as was said during this offseason.

Wow, that's a tough one..... 1.)Steelers all-time leading receiver.  2.)Super Bowl XL MVP 3.)Brought blocking to a whole new level for WRs and recgonized for it in the league. 4.)Great member of the community.

If Art Monk can get in, why not Hines? The whole never had a franchise qb, (for Ward till the end of his career.)

Here's what I say. If Lynn Swann and John Stallworth can be in the Hall of Fame, Hines should be a shoo-in. He holds so many receiving records for the Steelers that if he didn't get the Hall of Fame, it'd be a tragedy. Not to mention he's a great guy, a team player in a league full of selfish ball hogs, and he's the Tony Gonzalez of flanker receivers, the veteran model which all flanker receivers should copy. If it counts for anything, he's also arguably the best blocking receiver and is easily one of the toughest.

Ward will almost certainly be passed off by Holmes this season, so here's to him and 10+ years of no-nonsense football at its finest. It will truly be a sad day in Pittsburgh when he retires.
