Who is the top contender to upset the Celtics next season?
Philadelphia just became the number one contender in the East.
Detroit is done. Stick a fork in 'em....Philly is the only team that can replace the Celts on top of the Eastern confernce. What a shocking turn of events in Philly!
I am a life long Sixers fan, and I hope your right. However, I think both Young and Dalembert have some growing up to do (especially Young) before we can talk about unseating the Celts. It'll be fun to watch my Sixers be VERY competitive again, though!
the sixers are alot better with brand, but i don't know if they're at the Celtics level quite yet.
i think they're more of a 2nd round team that will scare the crap out of a top seed team (celtics, Pistons, maybe cavs). although, in a playoff series, they do match up pretty good against the celtics, but.......
i think that the Celtics will be better then the sixers for only one more year.... then it will be the time for the sixers to take over the east...... to answer the other question: What other teams could not out the celtics? My answer would be (along with the sixers) the cavs IF, AND ONLY IF, they are able to sign a decent player before the signing period is over.
My dark horse team to come out of the East this year resides in Orlando . Led by Dwight Howard (the beast of the east) and talented role players Hedo Turkoglu, and Rashard Lewis the Magic have a Big 3 that could present some matchup problems for the defending champions.
The one glaring weakness in the Magic's starting lineup last year was at SG, and they addressed that problem with their first round draft pick Courtney Lee. At Western Kentucky , Lee was a 4-year starter and was very impressive almost single handily leading the Hilltoppers to the Sweet 16 this year.
