He may have been the most underrated player in the NBA, before his injury. He's a 20-10 machine, when healthy. Plus, he gets his points from the low post out to 12+ feet. Brand was a top-10 player, as far as I'm concerned. And I'll be very surprised if he doesn't fully recover from the Achilles very quickly.
I never post on other teams' pages. But, I'm a native Celtics fan living in Philly; I'm excited for the Sixers (especially since I still don't think the 76ers have quite enough to overtake Boston, next season) and because Brand is understatedly awesome, and Philly deserves more legit contenders.

While I'm thrilled to have Brand, I don't believe that this move puts us in front of Boston or Detroit. Brand is 29 and this is a team with a young nucleus, so I'd have to say Josh Smith would have been my first choice because I want this team to grow into legitimate contenders. Now the sixers have used on all their cap space and we still need a shooter. If we find some way to get a legit scoring threat from the outside, while keeping the nucleus of this team together, then this was the right move.

A three point shooter should be available before September.. for the mid level exception or league minimum.... with a great shooter... like Posey...or a Sasha(just and example.he'll sign for more someone else) we'll be pretty strong...

Elton Brand TO PHILLY!!!!
We're coming BOSTON.....this team is now instant contenders although I don't think we will win the championships due to our lack of shooters I still think we will have a very good and exciting season. And in a few years or maybe even this year who knows we can win a championship...if boston could do it why not us, but then again Brand is no KG.
Also Josh Smith would have been a good fit for us but not as good as Brand....Brand is a very good low post player if not the best....and he is one of the few big men that dont try to take a whole lot of jump shots but prefers to get his points by using his power and strength. Just because josh is 6-9 doesn't mean he can play like Brand in the post.

I'm sick over this move our cap is blown and i really don't believe we are that close to a championship, i know the Sixers will be vastly better with Brand but we are not championship material. They way over payed, i don't care what other teams were offering we didn't have to. I hope his achillies isn't as hurt as my feelings right now because i see this as the worst thing a GM and Owner can do to the fans get them good enough to compete but not good enough to win a championship?
