I know that this might be a little crazy sounding, but we need to get some power in here via trade.  I say we send Mark Tehen and Ross Gload and 2 pitching prospect to Atlanta for Mark Texiera, and then package Tehen and 2 or 3 prospects for Matt Hollliday.  I know it we might have to send Greinke to Colorado, but maybe we can get him with just Tehan and 3 prospects.  Might have to send DeJesus too, but I'd love to keep him....

New Lineup:

DeJesus CF

Avalis  SS

Gordon 3B

Holliday LF

Texiera 1B

Guillen RF

Butler DH

Olivo/Buck C

Grud/Whomever 2B

Now That would be an AWESOME lineup!!!

I'm sorry to burst your bubble but I don't believe any of the above is close to happening.

First off, you mention trading off all these pitching prospects and even threw Greinke's name into the mix.  The sad fact is that our team ERA is 26th in the majors and if we took Greinke out of the rotation we'ld probably fall into dead last or damn close.  We're not nearly as pitching rich as you may think.  What we need more than a Holliday or a Texiera is someone more along the lines of Roy Halladay of the Blue Jays who year in and year out leads the league in innings per start and usually top 10 in ERA.  Our GM Dayton Moore has stated that pitching, especially starting pitching is the currency of winning baseball and I happen to agree with that.  But before we start entertaining the idea of trading away pitching prospects or a staff ace, we had better damn well have a much stronger staff here in Kansas City.  After looking at the numbers of our starters in Omaha, I don't see anyone down there who can clearly replace any of our starting five.  I say if we make any trades, we should continue to improve our pitching.

Even if those trades took place (which they won't), you seriously downgraded out outfield defense. With the size of Kaufman Stadium this is a huge mistake. You also took our leadoff man who has a top 10 BA right now and replaced him with a guy with an OBP of below .300, you can't have that from your leadoff hitter.

I think if there's any trades to be made before the trading deadline it will be us getting the prospects for our major leaguers.  Truth be told, we're out of contention and we're sellers.  Other teams may be interested in Mahay, DeJesus, Greinke of course and perhaps Meche.  Playoff contenders usually look for bullpen depth and I would expect Dayton Moore has already fielded calls for Mahay.  Experienced, effective lefty relievers are really a hot commodity this time of the season.   Problem for us is we don't have another effective lefty reliever to fill that void if such a trade is made unless we call us Musser.  I just hope to hell that Greinke and DeJesus are NOT traded.

You know what would be a dream come true to me? Getting Grady Sizemore! I know i know it will never happen, but hell since everyone is talking about crazy trades in this thread i might as well throw his name out there. We could package teflon tony and esteban for him, that would be a steal for the Indians..(hope ya'll understand thats sarcasm)
