I'm sorry to burst your bubble but I don't believe any of the above is close to happening.
First off, you mention trading off all these pitching prospects and even threw Greinke's name into the mix. The sad fact is that our team ERA is 26th in the majors and if we took Greinke out of the rotation we'ld probably fall into dead last or damn close. We're not nearly as pitching rich as you may think. What we need more than a Holliday or a Texiera is someone more along the lines of Roy Halladay of the Blue Jays who year in and year out leads the league in innings per start and usually top 10 in ERA. Our GM Dayton Moore has stated that pitching, especially starting pitching is the currency of winning baseball and I happen to agree with that. But before we start entertaining the idea of trading away pitching prospects or a staff ace, we had better damn well have a much stronger staff here in Kansas City. After looking at the numbers of our starters in Omaha, I don't see anyone down there who can clearly replace any of our starting five. I say if we make any trades, we should continue to improve our pitching.
