I just read on ESPN.com that the Warriors have reached a verbal agreement with Corey Maggette from the Clippers. I didn't know much about him since I don't pay much attention to the Clippers (except with the whole Baron Davis ordeal), but after looking at his stats I think he will do well for us. I guess we signed him when Elton Brand turned down our offer and will now play for the 76ers...
What do you think about this move?

I guess we will just have to wait until the season starts to see how Nellie will put this line up together. I think another 20 point scorer will do us good and take some of the pressure off of Monte, being the point guard. Now we just need some beef on the inside to help Beidrins rebound and block some shots.

I like this move almost as much as I like ENUFZED's avatar.
People are grousing about too many 2's and 3's with Maggette coming on-board, but as I wrote in another post, I don't think Mullin's done, plus Nelson doesn't believe in traditional line-ups all the time (he'll put more small guys on the court than most). They're also working on getting Turiaf (I think that will happen, I doubt LA will re-sign him with Bynum coming back), who would be a good fit with both the style of play and the W's need for some beef up-front. I think Mullin's going to try to move Harrington for a true point (I'd love for it to be either Felton or Conley, maybe Hinrich), leaving the Warriors with the following very competitive (and extremely young, ready to improve) team:
First line: Felton/Conley, Ellis, Jackson, Maggette, Wright, Turiaf, Biedrins
Second group: Belinelli, Azubuike (if he stays), Randolph, Hendrix
Anybody want to play that team when they could have multiple monsters all around the age of 25 in a couple of years? I think that's what Mullin's going for - let Boston and LA fight it out for the next couple of years, then blow them away with a growing base of young stars.

Crazy, good points, Baron wasn't going to play 82 games again this year anyway, His conditioning wasn't going to be there, we will see what he does for the Clippers this year, He just wants to be too Hollywood. I enjoyed watching him play while he was here, but it is time to move on and get a good young point guard to go with the rest of our 20 year old soon to be superstars.

Thanks, 'zed. You hit something else, no way could you count on Baron to play 82 again. With him, it was going to be one more and done, this just accelerated the process.
I am still sore, and will admit it, that he opted out at the last minute, basically ensuring that the Warriors couldn't use the exemption to help fill his void. (Not that they couldn't have used it for something else, but I digress......). But I think they're bouncing back just fine without touching the real nucleus / future of the team.

My only issue with this is that Ellis is going to play the point. But Nellie would not have gone with a traditional line-up anyway. My ideal world would be dumping Jackson (especially now that we have Corey) and Harrington and bringing in Felton. Then the line-up would be 1. Felton, 2.Ellis 3.Maggette 4.Wright 5.Bean. with Azu, Hendrix, and the others as a change of pace.

Omni, I think that you do need a leader on the floor and without Baron being there it is just too much youth and not enough experience. I think that you keep Jackson for that aspect and try to dump Harrington and see what you can get for him. I do like the idea of Felton and I think that with this years draft some of the other teams in the league have become point guard heavy with last years picks having to do battle for that point position and may be willing to make a deal to get Harrington or another big.
