Finally Fisher is gone from this team.  Hodge, Benson and Gordon played like crap.

Can't wait to see Lewis, Nelson, Big Benson, Garrison and the kid from Villanova

They have no Front Court -  Fisher's a fat slob who won't play D and Hodge disappears in another big game.  Gordon shouldnt even be on the team he stinks.  Lack of depth and a team that feels they have to give Fisher the ball or he'll complain.

Lost the game because Benson couldn't stay out of foul trouble and we have no bigs just slobs in Fisher and Gordon.

I do look forward to seeing Nelson next year shoot more as a Sophomore he's great with the ball and Lewis and hopefully Garrison provides spark.  Does anyone know about the kid from Villanova transfer?

Will we have any bigs next year?

As much as Charron Fisher can look bad in a game like that last night, he deserves respect as the only reason Niagara enjoyed the success that they did this year as well as last year. He is a bona fide scorer who plays out of control at times and needs the ball. Remember, often when he's looked bad, it's been because of double and even triple teams on him.

I thought to win we needed to see more production from other players, particularly Lewis. Overall, no one really steps up on this team outside of Charron, so it's not fair to pin everything on him when it doesn't work.

I think Charron deserves to be remembered as one of the top players in NU history.

That was a disappointing loss last night because we are better than Marist and it's very unlike us to lose a close game late.

Bottom line, though, this team was an overacheiver from the get go. Siena deserves the NCAA berth with Rider in the NIT.

NU will be back next year with Benn and Garrison to replace Charron and we deperately need at least one, if not two, bigger players to plug our interior defense holes, as well as play defense.

I'm not impressed with Williamson. Losing Hodge will hurt from a leadership perpective. With Nelson and Lewis and G, Big Ben in the middle and Garrison and Benn at F, we are very short. We need a 6'7" kid that can play some D and hopefully a 6'9" kid to spell and replace Egemonye.

Both of you have good points. This year was an over achieving year for the team. I mean throughout the season I began to realize that we just are not that good. We don't shoot the ball well and really have no depth. Regardless of how bad Fisher can look sometimes and how awful he looked last night, We wouldn't have won half the games we did without him. I mean I agree with both of you, he was our team and our go to guy, but yes I know its frustrating to watch when he is launching shots from the perimeter surrounded by 3 guys. Bottom line was this year we didnt have the talent we had in years passed. This is what i think we need for next year and this is my evaluation on the team...

Charron Fisher: Great Scorer, loves to shoot, makes good reads at times, turnover prone, loves the ball in his hands. Too much one on one, a lot of forced shots to win consistenlty on a nighty basis. Losing him will hurt, but it could lead to other players stepping up and making us a more balanced team in the future.

Tyrone Lewis: He continued to impress. Best athlete on the team by far. Needs to work on jumper and become more consistent. Is going to be the go to guy next year. Intensity is always high and he is very energetic.

Benson Egemonye: Inconsistency was the word for benson. He would have games ith 20 and 12 and then have games with 2 and 3. Needs to learn to stay out of foul trouble and continue to get stronger and develop more of a low post move. Has the height and passion to become a great MAAC player. Needs to continue to work hard and want the ball in his hands.

Bilal Benn ( The Guy from Villanova)- He is also very athletic and has a great jumper. He loves to take the ball to the rim and would be our best defender next year. Will be looking to prove to not only Niagara fans but to everyone back at Villanova for lack of minutes. Great player coming out of high school obviously by getting signed by Nova. Addition next year should be key for season.

Rob Garrison: Also very like Bilal. Very Athletic and loves to drive as well. Less talented then Bilal but also has a lot of potential. Saw lack of minutes at Conneticut due to talent on their team but came to Niagara for a purpose. Could end up being a great addition and soild contributer next year. Also has great basketball IQ as I saw that when he played with Harris and Flynn in High School.

Stanley Hodge: Senior Leader. Expected more. Did improve his shot. Just didnt have the intangibles to lead the team to another MAAC tourney title. Will be missed as he was the more vocal leader on the team.

Bottom Line is: I see our projected Starting 5 like this:

Center: Benson Egemonye--6' 10"

Power Foward: ?

Small Forward: Bilal Benn-- 6' 5"

Shooting Guard: Tyrone Lewis--6'2"

Point Guard: Anthony Nelson or Rob Garrison

The point guard spot will be decided by whether or not Nelson develops more of a offensive game. He has great instincts to be our point guard but lack of offensive ability hurt the team. I would like to see us sign a big time center/ power forward right out of high school that can contribute right away. That addition would really help our team. Also maybe if we get another transfer from a big time progam that transfers before the deadline that would make him eligible to play next season. Our Bench players would be Gordon, Williamson, Patterson, and Edwards. Should all get better and be more productive next year. Team should be much different next year and have a much different philosophy. Predicitons are too hard to make right now as not knowing how good Benn and Garrison really are. I would like to think Mihalich woill have them all ready to go next year and be ready to prepare for the future.

Don't forget Armstrong off the bench.... I have no idea how that kid made the team.  Glad he got 2 minutes all year.

It looks like we will have depth next year at least going 8 deep from 6 this year haha.

Hopefully they recurit a good PF but it may be hard.  Where does NU rank in our conference in recruiting skill?   Seems like every team has 2 great players.

I'm also afraid to say Canisius will be great the next two years.  A lot of young talent for them.

I hear ya gregoteam, but Terfra1 has a point.

This year was an overachieving year in my opinion.  Other than Fish and Lewis, we had nothing...and I mean nothing.

Yes, Fish is a ball hog and takes some HORRIBLE shots at times.  Last night was a clinic in his poor shot taking, but who else do we have to lean on??  I think Lewis played well and probably deserved the ball more because he was not only taking good shots, but he was scoring consistently once he figured out that his slashing style was starting to make a difference.  However, that discovery was too late in the game....

I too said good ridence to Fish at the end of that game last night.  However, he has had a great career from a "stat" standpoint.  But that's mainly due to the non-supporting cast of misfits he played with this year.  In the previous tournament years, we had A LOT more balance.  All we had this year was a ball hogging machine that won us a lot of games and got him a scoring title.  Hopefully next year, Joe brings in some more talent (hopefully more than a starting 5) that can spread the wealth better.  We are a much better team (as all teams are) when we have 5 TEAM players than one 1 ball chucker.

This is Siena's year as much as it pains me to say it.  Man that school is arrogant...What is in the air and water in Albany?  Those guys have been that way as long as I've watched them (class of '87).   I hope Loyola blows them out in front of their weasel fans today!!

Well, next year is another year and let's hope it brings more balance than this one.

PJViking

All of you had made some great points.  It all boils down to that they just couldn't get the job done and they got into foul trouble, too many missed shots.  But, go Eagles.

Next year it will be a new team with out fish.
