is the page you heard about.
Here you will fine the link
to the petition to offically
retire and keep 31 off the
ice for good.
I have not set a goal for
the amount of signatures to stop
at and send in.
I am thinking at least 1,000 and
when we hit that we will push for
some more and when the signings seem
to come to a dead stop then we will send.
Thank You for your time and please
sign the petition. *Goal Has been set to 10,000* as of 10/31/06 <!--"''"-->
I found this letter,Thank You for your time,PLEASE THINK ABOUT IT
what the hell are you talkin about??? What does a Soccer star have to do with Hockey?
If there is a hockey player by the name of Pelle, i havent heard of him, and im canadian, so therefore he doesnt deserve getting his number retired or anything like that!
Cause if you're not ... then I'd appreciate it if you stopped embarrassing the rest of Canada by claiming you are Canadian.
Also, the Brazilian soccer player's name is Pele (notice the 1 L) ... the former Philadelphia Flyers goaltender is named Per-Eric "Pelle" Lindburgh. He was a perennial all-star and future HoF before his career was cut short by a fatal car accident.

um, I just looked him up online, i dont see what the big deal was. He was some swedish goaltender that played for 5 seasons on the flyers. He was an OK goaltender, had a couple pretty good seasons, but he had a pretty high GAA, over 3 for his career.
He got selected to one all-star game posthumously, so his last season was his best. When i heard that he died, i thought it would be a sad story, but then i read that he was really drunk when he crashed his porsche. I believe it said his Blood Alcohol Level was 0.24, thats just rediculous!
Today the Legal Limit is .08, so he was driving around 3 times over the legal limit. For that reason, he shouldnt be in the HoF, he shouldnt get his number retired. Gretzky should get his number retired league wide, Lemieux should get his number retired league wide. this Pelle charactor, he shouldnt get his number retired, maybe if his career lasted another 5-10 seasons.
To make it worse, the guy crashed his car into an elementry school, fatally injuring himself and injuring 2 others as well.
Jmaroyal, I do not know you but I will try and explain it to you this way. Alfred loves his Flyers and Pele was a solid guy who messed up once and got killed. It is like as if Palmateer died this way. Please support it, it would be a great gesture and would certainly shine a spot light on an important issue.
so why is a Flyers fan spamming the leafs board over this player?
Yea he messed up, but im sure that wasnt his first time drinking and driving, im sure he did it 100's more times before that accident. Point is, that time he messed up, he died. Its unfortunate, but that shouldnt give him a sympathy vote. Players should get in based on his career stats, it doesnt matter if an accident or injury cuts the career short.
There are many players that have 1 good year then fade away and never do anything great again, and those players might be talked about, but they dont deserve HoF or jersey retirement.
Now, Having that guys jersey retired just for Philly would make sense, especially if hes loved and respected by his fans. Im not a fan, nor is he part of my team, so i dont care either way.
good luck i guess, but i think this topic is best for the NHL community board or on the Flyers Message Board...
But see the link below this is about Barilko who had his number retired, his statisctics were not that good either.
I welcome Alfred here, I spend more time on the Philly boards with Alfred and his freinds than I do here, only because our board here (yes I live in Toronto and support them as my second team) is not very actively. The guys over there love their hockey as much as anyone here.
Hey jmarcroyal ... I just want you to know I wasn't making reference to your opinion on whether or not his jersey should be retired. Only that you were confusing Pele and Pelle.
Which is just silly for any hockey or soccer fan to do.
