actually if you payed attention to dambrot at all he has said numerous times that you build a good team and get good players by acquiring wins. a kid that sees you have 24 or 25 wins is more likely to wanna come and play here as apposed to a team with 17 or 18 wins. you dont get 25 wins when you constantly play teams like unc or duke or other big schools. the scheduling will get more difficult when we get the talent we need here. dambrot is a smart coach, he knows what hes doing

all that i'm saying is one or two games against a much tougher schools will increase are chances of being taken more seriously... i would much rather have a few more loses against tougher teams than a few more meaningless victories. Just like what kent did this year. If we would have done that last year we could have gotten a spot in the tourney, we didnt even make nit with a team that was much better than this years. And as we saw in the nit this year we held are own.

Also, if we had more experience playing bigger and more athletic opponents, we could have blew through UMass and gave Syracuse a game in the next round.  I hear what you ua_zippy said about the 24 and 25 win seasons being better than 18 and 19 wins.

However, 26 wins didn't do much for us in 07, in regards to national respect and in recruiting.  I'm not saying that our non conference schedule should be really intense, I'm just saying that it wouldn't hurt us at all if we played against more nationally recognized teams in more recognizable conferences.

Perhaps some of the bottom teams in the Big East and most of the teams in the Big Ten.  Games like that will give our guys respect to the media and recruits, experience against better quality opponents, and are very winable if we play well.
