I have been saying over and over again that it is foolish to count out the Spurs.  People have been saying they were washed up for years, yet they continue to win championships or be perenial obstacles.  Washed up?  I think not.  I'll believe that when I see it.  They are far too effecient, far too experienced, far too talented and too well coached to just fade away the way people WISH THEY WOULD.  I hate the Spurs, but I am no fool.  I know who you get through if you want a championship and so does every team in the NBA.

I'll believe it when I see it.

I believe you hit the nail on the head with this one...  I hope my Suns don't have to meet the Spurs in the first round, much like any smart team would feel.

People who agree with this statement:  "or an aging group whose best days might be behind them..." need to look at the Spurs a little closer.

Tony Parker is 25 years old.
Manu Ginobili is 30 years old.
Tim Duncan is 31 years old.

Now, I realize the Spurs have many players in their mid-30's...  I know Bowen, Horry, Oberto, Barry, and Finley are getting up there...  However, when I think of the Spurs, those are the primary 3 players that come to mind.  If Duncan or Parker go down, the Spurs might not look as scary on paper.  As was said, these guys are too good and too well-coached to be taken lightly.

I sure hope someone is able to take them out early in the playoffs, as I do not want to see them win back to back.  Isn't tradition against them this year, seeing as 08 is an even number?

I'll believe it when I see it.

Top players play really well until 36 barring any injuries.
The spurs are going to be great for at least another 4 years if they keep those 3 together
