This year's draft has depth at wideout all the way down to the third or fourth round. If there's a better offensive lineman on the board, I'd take him over a down-graded wideout.

according to one mock I've seen we've taken kelly at 21 and then somehow magically have calais campbell fall to us in the second round? But I'm with you mongo, I'd take an upgrade at o-line to replace Jon Jansen and his nagging injury habit over a lesser talented WR any day.

Stephon Heyer..........that piece of blubber from the University of Morons. What a joke! Just like the Weedskins.

Let's see......the black and maroon (following zdork's comment) need a defensive end, wr, safety, linebackers, offensive linemen, a qb, cornerbacks. Heck, replace the entire team. Wait a minute, they are solid at punter and place kicker.

The Weedskins.........the epitome of mediocrity, futility and failure. A tradition since 1993.

Hail to the World Champion New York Football Giants...Always.

There isn't a true #1 wr in this draft, go defense line or secondary, or a o-lineman....stay away from the wr's in the first round. We could most likely pick one of them up in the second round instead, because there are alot of them that will not go #1, at least not to the Skins.....we havent had much luck taking recievers in the 1st round. With a weak wr selection in this draft , please dont waste the #1 on another dud like we have done too many times in the past.

Moronophor, you're another idiot BSI Weedskin fan..........and a dummy as well. First of all, the Weedskins did not beat the Giants 2x in '07.  Secondly, the Giants destined to finish 4th in the NFC EAST in '08? That makes makes you even more of a moron.

Stay with your pitiful and pathetic Weedskins.........the epitome of mediocrity, futility and failure. A Weedskin tradition beginning in 1993 and to be continued by Zdork.

P.S. I realize epitome is too difficult a word for you. Just like winning is for the Weedskins.  Look it up in the dictionary.

If we aren't able to get a WR worth a 1st rounder I say we pick up Brandon Albert if he is still available. That guy is a beast at 6-7 and 310lbs.

Yep, seems like the only WR worth drafting in the first are Devin Thomas or Limas Sweed.

Rams ADD CALDWELL" href="http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/03/25/rams-add-caldwell/" rel="bookmark">RAMS ADD CALDWELL

Posted by Michael David Smith on March 25, 2008, 11:39 a.m.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting that the St. Louis Rams have reached an agreement with free agent wide receiver Reche Caldwell.

Caldwell spent the 2007 season in Washington, and the Redskins were reportedly awaiting a decision from Caldwell, whom they offered a contract, as recently as yesterday. No details of the deal have been reported, but Caldwell apparently liked the offer he got from the Rams better than the offer he got from the Redskins.

Caldwell didn’t do much in Washington last season, playing in eight games and catching 15 passes for 141 yards. His best season came in 2006 with the New England Patriots, when he caught 61 passes for 760 yards. Prior to 2006 Caldwell spent four seasons with the San Diego Chargers.

In St. Louis Caldwell is likely to compete for the third receiver position behind starters Torry Holt and Drew Bennett.

i dont like the idea of drafting a wideout in the first round this year, but there looks like a bunch of solid midrounders, so it would be nice to take one with a 2nd or 3rd.

I hadnt thought about Brandon Albert, but that would be a great replacement.  But I really think we need a DE, especially since there are so many good ones in the 1st round this year

Those receivers falling out of the 1st round might not be really bad. We know their worth, how they played over the year and a poor pro day workout is just a snapshot not the whole picture of their true performance. So if they fall out of the 1st round, it would be a steal for us if we could land a Malcolm Kelly or Devin Thomas in the 2nd round though they might not fall that far. Bowman might go as late as middle 3rd round. I personally would risk a 1st round pick on a WR.

I was hoping for Derrick Harvey but his stocks have risen and alot of teams higher than us have taken an interest in him. Merling is my other choice at 21 despite health issues while there are other notable rushers such as Calais Campbell, Quentin Groves and Chris Ellis we can consider for 2nd round. If not Merling then I would go for Kenny Phillips at S or Aquib Talib or Cromartie at CB (whoever is available at 21).

I know Oline is not a top priority but Branden Albert is the top prospect at OG. Hopefully if we do feel to pick Oline then he is the best choice. He can take over from Kendall and hold that position for years to come. If not, Trevor Laws might be a good pick at 3rd round.

I would not pick a WR in the first round. In my opinion we need a DT or DE that is a stud. We can fill the needs of CB, WR, and OL in the second and latter rounds. I think this draft is deep enough that we can fill some holes with the picks we have and will get. I think that we are not going to get a true number one WR at the 21st pick. We need some real help on the DL. This is my opinion.

I believe now just take the best available player. We need WR, DE, CB, OL , and DT . In that order , but If a OG is avaialable thats just to good to pass up take that guy. I would love to go DE first, but I rather take a high rated CB or OL then a lower rated DE, just to fill a need. Last year many of us wanted Okoye DT at #6, but instead they took the best player on the board, and now I think none of us are unhappy with Landry. As we have all come to realize what a great player he is. I say just take the best guy at a position of need.

Good post Ramirez you make a very good point. The Redskins need players that can come in and play immediately.

I agree with not taking a WR the first round as well. The more I've been reading it seems like none will be worth the risk and money. I'm with Ramirez, take the best one available at a position of need.

Read the first post from Samuels on Extreme Skinz. Our O line was really hurting the past two years.
