In my opinion we need a DT or DE with our first round pick. With the second round pick we need a WR and then we need a CB and OL with the latter picks. Just my opinion. I do not want Chad Johnson in a Redskins uniform the price is way to high. Draft a WR in the second round.
101 , what price is to high? It seems to me Chad is driving his price down with his latest antics. If he continues this , the Bengals may be forced to trade him. Which could lower his value even more. Because every team will know he and the Bengals can no longer co-exist . The guy is a great WR and still has a lot left. So I ask again What price is too high? Can we get him for a 3rd round pick? I think a 3rd rounder is well worth it.
The last price I herd was a first and third round pick as well as a new contract. I do not like the idea of a first round pick and I do not want a high priced contract for Chad Johnson. He is a good WR and does have more left however we also know that he can be a problem in the locker room. I for one would rather us draft a WR. Any price other that a third round pick is to much for me.
I do not want to give up our draft picks. There is a WR named Jerome Simpson, from Coastal Carolina he is projected to go in the 4th round. He is 6 foot 2 inches tall and has a 38 inch vertical jump and a 11' 04'' broad jump his high jump is 6' 8 3/4''. He holds almost all of the receiving records at his school. If we want to gamble lets take this guy he has heart and skill and wants to play. He will not be a locker room problem and will not demand much money. He will not upset our other receivers and he may just impress us all and be the next great Redskins WR. For me Chad Johnson is not worth the price, any price, let him go play arena ball.
It is just my opinion on Chad Johnson the above posts. I realize he is a very good WR, I just like the fact that we can draft and be smart and build a very good team. I don't want other teams problems any more. Let the Raiders buy him.
I also like a DE named Kendall Langford from Hampton. He is 6' 6'' and is a monster. He is projected to go in the third or fourth round. He could come in and add some much needed help on the DL.
I think we can improve so much if we just keep our draft picks and draft smart.
I am starting to jump on the DONT DRAFT C.CAMPBELL bandwagon, because the more I read about him,is the more I dislike him. He is not even projected to go in the first round. With our first pick I say 1st.Kenny Phillips 2nd.Phillip Merling 3rd. trade out of the pick if both is not there to get a additional 2nd round and a 4th round pick. With that 2nd round pick we can go James Hardy(a huge reciever) and with our original pick pick up Reggie Smith (play CB/SS, talk about filling in for a postion when a teammate is down in injury). Then in later rounds draft a O-Lineman and I like the DT out of Maryland,Dre Moore. Now my only doubt about this whole thing is Reggie Smith being there in round 2 pick 21,but if it goes this way then you can't say we didn't cover all our position needs.
I agree. Aren't we getting extra picks cuz of the death of the late great Sean Taylor. Trade a 3rd rounder and one of those extra picks and bring in Ocho-Cinco. Chad is that big play , big WR that we need and he provides JC with another threat in the Red-zone.
Im not sure what kind of Salary cap ramifications Chad would bring, but Im sure a way can be figured out to make it work.
From what I understand, compensitory picks cant be traded.
I say, let Ocho Stinko stay in Cincinnati. He's one of the best recievers in the league, but the price (draft picks, contract, and attitude) would be more than I would be willing to give up.
The thoughts of drafting a big WR target for Campbell sure is appealing on the surface. Crank up the offense, put monster points on the board, unveil the next Largent.
Wrong.
We have to have a young, healthy impact player on the defensive line. We need DE first. We have to get that pressure on the QB, and help take some pressure off the corners and the offense.
I don't care which one they take, but I want the 'Skins to go DE with the 1st rounder.
I agree with all the needs the Skins do need. However, steer clear of CJ, what a waste of talent and with a rookie coach? He'll try to dominate Zorn like he did our good friend in Cinci.
DE is a must, when have we had a great player on the D-line? I think we have a few up and comers but for now we have average players. Run stuffer is a must, someone to plug the middle for several years.
OL is also a priorty, we need some youth to that can take care of the right side of the line in case of injuries like last year.
Here is my only issue with drafting a WR in the first round. We all remember Desmond Howard? Yikes.
Overly cautious. Let's find that hard worker, great worth ethic, determined and motivated D-Lineman we can count on to start right away.
i think that the skins should really hold off on taking a wr in the draft. I would wait til the 3rd round and get a big guy like adarious bowman or jordy nelson. Most of the 1st round wrs have major question marks and we may be able to steal one in the second round.
I think that in the first they should go with either phillip merling or derrick harvey. If they are gone i would go for one of the elite cbs that may fall like talib or jenkins. I really hope they don't take calais campbell, other than his size i haven't heard one think i like about this guy and he may even drop into the late 2nd.
overall i think in the 1st two rounds they should concentrate on de and cb unless one of the 1st round wrs falls in the 2nd.
I agree with Corey & Posse. Wide receivers are too risky. We can't afford to blow our 1st round pick, as we did with Desmond Howard.
You have to go with Best Available with the first pick. If you can snag a DE such as Derrick Harvey or Phillip Merling then that is a no-brainer. If they are gone and you can snag a CB such as Domonique Rogers-Cromartie or Aqib Talib then that works nice as well.
If there are no obvious bargains then I kind of like Branden Albert. He seems like a safe pick. He can play both guard and tackle. You can't go too far wrong having an extra quality O-lineman.
Ramirez, I normally agree with you but this time I gotta go the other way Chad Johnson while he has great talent as a WR he also brings issue/distractions that the team doesn't need. I am going to try and validate this as best I can. This is a critical time with a new HC and new Offense and we need everybody focused on learning the system as fast as they can. We will be playing the first preseason game with very little time to master the things that make the WCO work like it does. Seconodly he wants to always be in the spotlight and the center of attention. FLIPSIDE. Some said the same about Randy Moss and look at how he worked out for N.E. that's true but not always the case more the exception thn the rule. Even though he hasn't thrown his old quaterback under the bus (Terrel Owens) after time teammates get tired of the extra crap with a player and even if they never say it in public they think it. He's productive, who knows maybe Mix could be as productive besides Johnson doesnn't play in a WC style offense in Cinncy and we don't know if he would fit the system, not all talented players fit every system. I am by no means saying we should draft a WR in the first round because we can find a quality tall WR in later rounds. Rounds 1 & 2 should be for a DE and DB not in any specific order. Everyone thinks the D will change dramatically under coach Blatche but remember he has been here for a while and has stated that he is going to stay with the way they played the past few years with some new wrinkles. The only way I would trade for Johnson is if and on IF we had a 4th round compensatory pick that I would give up and I am not sure that we could trade a compensatory pick. Let me know what you think about my comments...
