That was everyone's reaction to his first book.

NOW, it's Why the hell wouldn't I believe him? He implicated Clemens, McGwire, Palmeiro, etc., etc., and all of those claims have been substantiated, except arguably for Clemens.

He actually, dread the thought, has credibility in the steroids arena, and therefore, this is a sad day for ARod in my opinion. Of course, I am not indicting ARod at all. But I will not be at all surprised if there comes a day in the near future where I am not the only one who will be...

Doesn't seem strange that this did not come up earlier.  I would be cautious about this allegation, even though he has been right about other players.

This might be wishful thinking but...

Isn't it possible that Canseco is telling the truth and A-Rod did ask about steroids and was introduced to "Max" but then took a pass?

A-Rod would not even want to start down this road with some of the embarrassing confessions he might have to endure -- but he also cannot call Canseco a liar.

This would keep Canseco credible in the steroids trade (which he has pretty effectively proven) and smear A-Rod (a guy he clearly hates and claims made the moves on his wife) with the "stink" of steroids even-though he may not have the actual "goods" on him taking steroids.

If Canseco actually had the "goods" on A-Rod -- more than just the introduction story -- wouldn't this have been a part of the first book?  Especially since Canseco hates the guy?

My question is the same as usual.  WHY DOES ANYONE CARE?  Move on already.  This is the biggest waste of time, and I could give a rats ass who was on the juice or who wasn't.

If Canseco is telling the truth, your explanation seems to be the most plausible...at least until he is associated with a shady trainer who has Arod's blood on some old needles and gauze.

It is sad that Canseco has credibility in this area but it is true.  I think that at some point A-Rod needs to respond to the steroid part of Canseco's claim, but for now he's doing the smart thing and keeping his mouth shut.

There may be truth to what Canseco says, but I really hope he's completely full of it this time.  I HATE the Yankees and I don't like ARod, but I want the home run recored that Barry Bonds stole from Hammerin' Hank Aaron back in the hands of somebody who didn't cheat to get it.  ARod MAY have cheated, but Barry DID cheat.

A lot of Canseco's claims have been substantiated.  But it's time to move on, and this is getting old.  Plus there's no denying Canseco is looking for money and this is all a publicity stunt.  Even after some his claims have sent former users running, new claims are met with even more suspicion.  So who does Canseco have in mind for high profile targets for book number three?

I don't know the guy personally (most of us don't)...and I certainly would never condone steroid use (it's unhealthy and it wrecked the game forever)...and Jose Canseco (b/c he admitted to it) was a big time user and a big time supplier (or at least a middle man).

With that said, I seriously doubt that Canseco is BROKE. Sure, he's cashing in on a hot topic...and he has exposed a number of player's lies. However, I think that a lot of his motivation (yes, money is part of it)...is the fact that he feels (and probably rightfully so) that he was BLACKBALLED from the game...that is, if you don't count his time with the San Diego Surf Dogs and the Golden Baseball League. He still wanted to play and felt that he could...and all the guys that he "juiced" with were playing and getting big contracts while he was forced out of the league. He was frustrated that very few of his old cohorts spoke up for him when he helped (through steroid advice and suppliers) get them the big contracts and endorsements. This is his revenge. Baseball turned it's back on him...so he responded with his books.

If anything, Canseco's books have allowed a more meaningful discussion on steroids, something that Bud Selig and the Player's Union tried to hide and sweep under the rug for a long time as the league made big bucks on the backs of guys using lots of steroids.

I say, let Canseco open his mouth all that he wants...he may not be the most credible source out there, but he has indirectly opened investigations that have proven that many guys have been lying about their usage.

I would not go as far as to say Canseco is broke. I've seen enough from him to believe he's better off than, say, me.

BUT, and this is a big but (not, big butt which describes Canseco both physically and ethically) he has already shown he is always trying to find ways to make money. This is, after all, a man who sold the "privilege" of spending a day with him. He rents out his boat, including in some cases the chance to have him accompany you.

Don’t discount the idea that Canseco is doing this solely for the money just because he has money.

one more thought to consider concerning canseco, clemens and the now infamous party...has anyone ever considered that maybe just maybe clemens paid canseco off for a favorable deposition?...I mean considering how well Clemens defended himself its not out of the realm of possibility.....

I'm inclined to believe him, unless he just wants more attention and will take down the biggest star in baseball to get it. Ultimately, is anyone else as sick of hearing about steroids as i am?

So now someone is guilty the second a book hustling whiner who is bitter over the HOF state that he introduced that player to a known steroid dealer.  He won't and can't produce evidence, he has no evidence that A-Rod did anything with the information or the person, but that doesn't matter in your mind.  He is guilty because this cheating drug user says so.

pathetic.

I know alot of what he said in the first book has been proven true... but, if you read it, most of it HAS NOT and much of it has been proven false.  Just keep in mind that this guy thinks baseball blackballed him out of the HOF and he is bitter.  On top of that, he went broke and is trying to make money now.

Besides, at this point, stop digging up the past and just test the players from this point forward.  Test them year round.  One failure, suspended without pay for a year.  Two failures, done.  Trying to go back in the past at this point is worthless and frugal.  They will keep turning over rock after rock after rock....

Yeah sad thing to add on to this is the whole John Rocker callout on A.Rod. This is 2 guys now having put his name out there. It is just a matter of time until a third person comes out or he begins to crack under the pressure like RC did.

meeting with someone isn't the same as actually doing 'roids.....i'm far from an a-rod apologist, i can't stand the guy, and i can't stand the Yankees...and while canseco was credible in the first book, and hell, he might be credible  in the second...i'm going to give a-rod the benefit of the doubt....something  i never would with clemens....and  for one reason and one reason only really....a-rod is smart....he's keeping his mouth shut....something clemens originally did until that moron of an attorney (rusty harden)  put clemens on the national media tour....plus......there's no andy petitte like friendship to convince people that a-rod  is lying or took performance enhancer
