Great article, I wasn't sure if anyone on the CBS staff could write with style/humor. Anyway, what do you think will be the real impact? Will a guy drop from a #1 pick to a 25th if he is a few percent high? I doubt it, everyday in the NFL is a gamble. Literally. So I believe a guy with #1 talent will still win over the guy with 1% less body fat.  Nonetheless, it will give us an opportunity to laugh at all the 'tough guys' in the NFL doing their best Michael Jackson impersonations.  Where was your white glove?

Firstly, I'd like to echo your sentiments about the quality of the piece. Spin and ClayNation never fail to amuse.

However, I think the body fat should be used as a more important measure by NFL teams. While such an extreme example as the one that you used is unlikely to occur, I still believe that this is one of the best measures for determining a prospect's strength and fitness. Unlike the bench press (and to some extent the 40) which can be improved specifically through endless training on that exercise without any significant impact on football performance, the body fat percentage is an indication of the general fitness of the player. And as the article says, it is a great determinant of muscle mass between players.
