who the hell cares how they did in the season you idiots? this is tourney time and your precious Bruins are choking and barely scraping by in their pathetically weak bracket and North Carolina (whom i hate by the way) are destroying the competition and yet seem to have the hardest bracket. There is no way you can defend your team for the way they have played thus far it has been brutal. The officials might be able to save your ass against Xavier but i doubt it, Xavier is to good but if you do manage to get by have fun getting destroyed by Memphis in the 06 Elite Eight rematch.

What is Dodd's problem didn't he pick UCLA to win the whole thing if I remember right? UCLA has not blown out any good competition this year really. They have a tendancy to play up or down to the competition wich is kind of disapointing for a team with this talent.

I wouldn't get too upset about it, guys - it's only a football writer's opinion. He doesn't watch the regular season because that his off-season. There's was a potentially interesting story here about UCLA "choking" but Dodd missed the right angle entirely.

What I found interesting was Kevin Love's quote (covered in the game report on the wire) that the second half performance was "unacceptable, unacceptable, unacceptable". When the star player has concerns like that, you could legitimately make a case for the Bruins underperforming, but Dodd has just made a series of allegations without really supporting them.

And as for the Bruins "choking" in the Elite Eight, two consecutive Final Fours say otherwise.

Did I miss something?  I could have sworn they won, are 34-3, are still playing basketball.  I cant stand all these stupid people on hear wanting to make a story or a point on how "pretty" a win was.  WTF? Winning is winning whether you win by an inch or a mile, a point or 20.  eightzero is gay, go UCLA!

Dodd might say that plane tickets to the West Coast cost too much and that his salary is too low or CBS wouldn't pay the cost - kidding, but seriously:

The one sore spot for UCLA was not adhering to press breaking fundamentals (I just put up a thread about it). I don't care if you're a starter, small guy, big guy, end of the bench guy, or whatever - you sure as hell better know basics about breaking a press - especially if you're on a team like UCLA.

And Ben Howland - pound those fundamentals into your team as much as possible before squaring off with the Nusketeers.

And yes, very few NCAA teams are good at breaking presses on a regular basis the right way. The coaches are partly to blame for not going over it enough in practice - it's quite obvious that they don't from what we fans see on the court. It doesn't matter what skills your players have - press breaking is something that has to be constantly pounded into a players mind (until the NBA where very few teams press, and not for very long). Forgetting how to break a press loses games no matter how many other positive things your team does.
