Am I the only one that thinks they need to work Steve Novak into the lineup a little more next year. I know he doesn't play great defense but man everytime he comes in he hits 3's. He reminds me so much of Matt Bullard back in the day when we won the championship. He would come in and hit a couple three's and fire everyone up when they got in a slump. I wish we would use Novak in a similiar way. I'm looking forward to 2009 Go Rockets!!!

I wish he could play more minutes too, it's crazy how good of a shooter he is but doesn't get any minutes most games.  He's seems just as capable as someone like Jason Kapono in my eyes.

You all make good points and if you think about it alot of the so called sharp shooters that come off the bench for sparks all play little defense. I wish he could maybe add a little weight so he could maybe play bigger guys. All in All I think he should help us more next year. Go Rockets

I think Steve Navok needs to get with coach and find out how they want to use him.  The Power Forward poss is thick with Chuck Hayes, Carl Landry, and Luis Scola.  We need another small forward to back up Tracy McGrady and Shane Battier.  So what does he do?  With our Power Forward so thick mabey 2 of the 3 get moved in a trade then I would say Navok must work on putting on weight and getting stronger and work on his post defense and develope more of a mid range game with shots off a pump fake and a power dribble so that he can step up in the PF void left by 2 of those guys leaving.  If we keep 2 of the 3 power forwards then Novak will need to concentrate on his speed, agility, and perimiter defense, along with some more ball handling skills, improve strength while not gaining in mass/size.  This would help him to be able to step into the 3spot and even PF if we run small and quick.  I do think he needs to get on the court more but right now he is to slow to play the 3 and to small to play the 4 that is why I think this offseason he needs to find out what the Rockets want from him and get with the trainers and start molding his body to fit the system.

I also would love to watch him play more minutes but the thing is who does he play over. Another thing is he does have to work on his defense a little bit and has to get STRONGER.

I think we will see a lot more of Novak next year than this one. Although he's not quick enough that he can make his own shot, but I can see a little inside out with Yao, or TMac or Alston driving the lane and kicking it out for an open 3 - no question Novak can come off the bench and give a huge boost.

I like the Bullard comparison (who I always thought was underrated), except that Bull was big enough that he played decent defense against small forwards and even power forward sometimes. Novak doesn't have that advantage and will instead have to work a lot on his defensive quickness to get serious minutes.

I think Novak can be more effective when Yao comes back and they have a consistent inside presence or when they have penetration into the paint more consistently and then "Kick out" to Novak. He really can't create his own shot or play defense very well, but I wont argue he's a fantastic shooter.

On the other hand, he would be decent trade bait for maybe another big guy who can battle under the basket and grab some boards. Give the Rockets more size and a little "Meaner Demeanor".

I would favor keeping Novak, but then again, shopping him to see what you can get for him is also a viable option. Package a few guys together, put together a sign and trade, you just never know what you could end up with.

In my opinion, there are six or seven untouchables. Guys you leave alone. T-Mac, Yao, Shane, Scola, Landry, Alston, and Aaron Brooks. I can't believe I put Rafer in the list, but he proved his value to the Rockets in the Playoffs. Everyone else, shopem' and see what's out there.
