Wait, we are now almost 2 weeks into the NBA playoffs with not 1, count em', not 1 article about any team involved, any game involved, any series played or unplayed....and this?
Yes, Doyel is correct. THe last minute is an issue. But seriously
This site is an offense to basketball fans. How about some analysis rather than non-alcoholic editorials and hyped up punditry. Give us some credit, how about an article on the resurgence of the three-post offense (the triangle) or the rare beauty of the wel run pick and roll why so many teams can't run it. Somethig, anything.
You guys,
seriously.

I thought this article was necessary and made a valid point. I'm tired of hearing the same articles about the same problems. This was something new and very accurate. The 48th minute, maybe even the 47th too are hard to watch. Players test the referees and it because 20 grown men whining about calls or no-calls. If they played like they do in the 1st quater but with the intensity of the 4th, the game will be better to watch! Anyway, Go Pistons!

Agrees, this site has been a real disappointment for Basketball.
And, sorry, but this article is just dumb. Lebron James drove, was he fouled? Sure. So was Caron when he drove, actually, so were pretty much all of the Wizards possesions for the final 5 minutes of that game, and many of the Cav's possesions as well. You only mention James because you make the same assumption as everyone, you ONLY pay attention to fouls that don't get called in the final 1 minute, instead of the whole game, because likely, that last minute is the only minute you care about, even though that non-call in the first quarter of a game decided by 1 point is just as much of a problem.
Ignorance, this site has offered pretty much nothing to make it different from ESPN/SI.com, except those sites at least sometimes put out some thoughts on the games that occur instead of just using the AP for their primary reporting. What are you guys being paid for anyways?

You raise a good point, Pete, but the thing is ... I specialize in hyped up punditry. Which should have a hyphen, by the way: hyped-up punditry. Up needs hyped to exist, hence the hyphen.
You're welcome.
Tell you what. I'm open for a column idea for Sunday. Give me a couple of ideas worth exploring, and I'll think about writing on one of them. No promises, and I've got other things I'm thinking about writing ... but what the hell? If you're offering, I'm listening.

I hear you Gregg, thanks for the response (I also love your stuff on MMA, and like I said, your point is a valid one it is just misstimed and grotesquely misrepresentative of the current affairs of NBA basketball.) You actually do not specialize in hyped-up punditry (thanks for the correction too, and yes, I caught wind of the snarling sarcasm subtext) I could see something on the difference between the C's Cavs match up (pack the line, double on ball 30 feet from the basket to increase TOs) vs the more flowing full-court offense of Jazz v. Lakers (runouts from defenders on jumpshooters leading to transition buckets, pick and rolls) I could see a special on the different ways that each team is running the pick and roll according to their personnel. You could explain what exactly the three-post offense is and why players like Jordan and Kobe are so necessary to run it (that way you can keep a little bit of the hype even.) Or maybe a good ole analysis of every NBA series up to this point and why each team won. If you need any more ideas, just feel free to ask, but that should give you good head start.

I think it's really nice of Gregg Doyel to offer to think about considering to ponder writing a column for all twelve NBA fans left in the country. I can't wait to see the ratings for a New Orleans vs. Orlando finals (don't laugh, it could happen). What are the chances that Stern and Bettman have a wager on who can run his league farthest into the ground before getting canned?

Reggie Dunlop, 12 NBA fans left? You are out of your mind. I know plenty of fans and the NBA is, especially among younger people, very popular, and don't forget that those are the fans of the future. So, the NBA is healthier than you think, especially considering that this year's average attendance was the 3rd higest attendance in NBA history, TV ratings are HUGE this year, merchandise sales are through the roof. Oh and don't you believe me on the ratings? The 1st round of this year's playoffs was the highest rated since 1994. Check it out and stop hating..oh aren't you even watching the playoffs? Arenas are PACKED and the atmosphere is awesome..12 fans left MY BEHIND, FRICKIN HATER!!!!!!!!!!
