Anyone see that Mulder is experiencing problems with his rotator cuff?!  This guy has just absolutely fallen apart!  He has not contributed (in a good way) since 2006.  I am so tired of him having setback after setback.  It makes me ill to think of him collecting his $7 mil a year or whatever it is.  He is apparently blaming his last 2 crappy rehab starts on this newest issue.  I really had hopes of him coming back this year and contributing but this is getting extremely frustrating.  Anyone else as irritated about this as i am?

I'm with you on this one. The thing that really ticks me off about this is that we gave up an All-Star pitcher (Haren) and a top prospect (Barton) for a guy that has gone 22-18 with a 4.95 ERA in parts of three seasons. It does not really tick me off as much because the Cards are doing pretty well right now, but I would like to see at least the Mulder we saw in 2005. If Mulder doesn't do anything this year, this trade could go down as one of the worst in franchise history because we traded away our future for an injury prone pitcher who can't seem to pitch nowadays without getting hit for 10 runs every game.

You make it seem like he's trying to be a bum and not wanting to contribute to this team.  I can almost assure you the opposite is true and that no one feels worse about his constant setbacks than Mark Mulder himself.

With that said, it could mean that his days as a starter are probably over, but using that guy as a reliever or a closer?  That's something he could look into for the next few years of his career.

At the time, it seemed like a reasonable trade.  Haren was a can't miss, but Mulder was already pitching at a top level.  It just didn't work out, due to injury.

Where the Cardinals made their mistake was in throwing good money after bad and resigning him after the 2006 season to such a high dollar contract.  They knew he was hurt and they resigned him.  Strange. pipe

They should give Mulder a shot at the closer role.
