Just a day after scoring 9 runs against the Angels, the Royals go back to being the weak hitting team they have been all season. They are swinging at bad pitches early in the count. Sure Cabrera had his stuff working last night, but they didn't make him work either. He didnt hit 100 pitches until the 8th inning. How many groundouts did we have, something like 18. Hopefully Alex Gordon & Billy Butler will start hitting for more power, you can tell it's there but they need to jump on mistakes.

Sorry for the rant but it is just frustrating because we have been waiting for good pitchinh for so long, now that we have it, we cannot hit at all.

Bro i know what you mean. We gotta just capitalize on the pitches we get instead of making poor and stupid decisions to swing at those pitches that are so crappy.

Well, I'm hoping that the lack of output of the  Royals last night was due to Cabrera's nastiness, and he was nasty.  Its tough to get anything airborn when a 6'9" pitcher is locating his sinker.  Cabrera also has a history of owning the Royals, so perhaps this is just a one game stinker...hopefully.  I hope Guillen's stinger gets worked out..I hated seeing him have to sit out after a 3 for 3 performance.  Well, we have Meche going tonight so lets get back on track.

It is very frustrating.  It is almost humorous that our manager preaches discipline all the time, yet nobody in our lineup has any plate discipline at all.  I just do not understand how we can have almost the same lineup as last year and not score as many runs as we did last year.

And now for my rant.  Why in the name of god is Tony Pena still starting.  He is an absolutely atrocious batter.  He has no plate discipline, he swings at anything, and when he does make contact it is very weak.  I admit that he is an outstanding defensive shortstop, but that does not make up for his shortcomings at the plate.  Callaspo should be our starting shortstop.  He is not a bad defensive shortstop by any means, and however worse he is defensively than Pena, he is a much better better that swings very well and has a lot of pop in the bat.    Besides (while he has played in more games), Pena has more errors than Callaspo and not that much better of a fielding percentage.  When you add that to the fact that in 30 games, Pena is batting an abismal .167, while Callaspo in his 17 games played in is batting a very respectable .318.  I just do not understand it.  Pena would not even have a chance at being in the starting lineup for any other team in Major League Baseball, why does he get to start on our Royals team.  START CALLASPO AT SHORT!!!

I would like to retract my sarcastic statement about bringing up moustakas...as i said that it sparked some interest to look at his stats in single A with the Burlington Bees....214 Avg down there...has 4 big flies though...but seriously when are they going to give Mike Aviles a Try? Kid is flat out hitting the crap out of the ball in omaha.. he has a .355 Avg,has 6 homers 29 RBI'S,16 doubles and 6 Triples in just 32 games down in omaha...i say you bring him up and send down Esteban German, cause he hasnt done anything at all this season...

i totally agree about Pena. anyone they bring up could hit .167.  it's starting to look like last year. i see alot of improvement in the pitching but the hitting is a disaster. where's Hal when you need a good tantrum thrown in the clubhouse.

Geez, this loss to the Orioles tonight was especially hurtful.  We should have won that damn game with any kind of situational hitting at all.  7th inning, 1st and 3rd with 0 outs.  Butler strikes out, then Gruds strikes out THEN we get a ground ball that would have scored the runner from third, but instead, its the third out.  And then we lose 6-5.  Three straight nights we get put down by an Oriole 3 run homer.  Damn I hate it when a struggling last place team can come to our house and win 3 straight.

Well thats my rant for tonight.  Its time to go on a nice roll where we win about 8 out of 10 games.
