From the AP report:

Alex Rodriguez took 57 swings in batting practice and fielded 31 grounders at third base during his first injury rehabilitation workout Friday at the New York Yankees’ minor league complex.

A-Rod hit several long homers, including a pair that went over the center-field back drop. He also ran in the outfield.

Rodriguez said the session went “good” and gave a thumb’s up as left the field for the clubhouse.

Catcher Jorge Posada took batting practice for the first time since going on the DL on April 28 with right rotator cuff tendinitis. The switch-hitter took 28 swings right-handed and 26 from the left side. Posada, expected to be out at least another month, could start a light throwing program early next week.

Pitching wins championships.

Red Sox staff > Yankees staff

Pitching wins championships.

While I agree, 2004 WS isn't yours without Ortiz. He isn't a bat that could be lost and compensated for with pitching - especially when nothing is added when he is lost.

Pitching wins championships....

Then I guess you're saying the Blue Jays will win the championship this year...........

 "Pitching wins championships.

Red Sox staff > Yankees staff"

Well then we're both in trouble cause

Blue Jays staff> Yanks or Sox Staff

P.S

Yanks pen> Sox Pen

Yanks pen> Sox Pen

Sox pen is second to last in ERA in the entire ML.

Yankees pen 3.55 ERA > >> >>  Red Sox pen 4.77 ERA

It's not going to be easy to win without a decent bullpen, and the Sox need help in that department. Although they're SP is alot better than the Yankees at this point, it won't be enough to cut it with the second to worst bullpen in the majors.

I forgot to add that Jeff Karstens has been throwing well and may pitch in an extended spring training game Saturday. He was expected to get the long man role before he got injured on the final day of spring training. Hopefully he'll have the job when he gets back and we can use Ohlendorf in his proper position; as a 6th or 7th inning guy. The way farnsworth has been pitching of late (his suspension was reduced today from 3 games down to just 1 game), it may be a battle between him and Russ Ohlendorf for the 7th inning job.

Bottom line is, Yankees bullpen has achieved much better results than we could've dreamed of. Guys are settling down who were rocky, and we may get help from the minors if needed (maybe David Robertson??).
