it was reported that if either the Schultz or cities case wins then OKC was going to be looking into filing a lawsuit against the city of Howard for rights to the team because after the board of governors vote and the lease agreement they reach and all the money they have spent into bringing the NBA into there city..I was seriously wondering if that was true or just overhyped speculation because if that is true that is comical, OKC cant sue Seattle, they cant sue Howard Schultz if he wins because the court has already ruled and that leaves only one guy to sue and that would be Bennett, does anyone honestly think that would really happen...this whole thing is comical, I hate the NBA but Stern and Bennett made it personal when they ripped on Seattle fans, most people honestly wouldnt have cared if the Sonics left but they had to open their mouths and rip on an entire city and obviously now a city that if either lawsuit wins could put Sterns job in jeopardy and if Bennett isnt careful could end up in jail for perjury

Well now, most of your claims are correct except for one.... When you claim that most people wouldn't have cared if the Sonics moved, you were way off base. Remember that if Bennett would have been truthful, the team would have never been sold to him.

thank you thats exactly what ive been saying all this BS about Schultz just trying to keep his good name by filing a lawsuit to make it seems that he cares and only to sell more Starbucks is really retarded he does care if Bennett would have told him that he planned on relocating the team after 1 year after the purchase then schultz would have never sold him the team....

I completely disagree, there wouldve be a minor uproar but most of the population I honestly dont think would have cared and you never saw a huge deal or that many fans behind SOS until Bennett and Stern made remarks about the fans, SOS have done so much to try and save them and it just seemed like noone was standing up behind them, Gregoire received very few emails or phone calls, very few people had an uproar wihle Nichols was in negotiation..I know that the fans never wanted them to leave and wouldve been pissed it just didnt seem like there was so much more that people could have done to get these incompetant politicians into action, as Nichols was finally forced into by all the pressure...and truthfully I think Schultz still would have sold the team to Bennetts group cause you have to be pretty naive to think Bennett was going to keep the team in a region he has no idea about and still has no idea about

personally I still think yes he would have sold it, he obviously didnt sell it to the local ownership group who consisted of half the guys already in his ownership group, Schultz is not stupid enough to really think Bennett wanted to keep the team here. Schultz is a wealthy man and has attorneys and I'm sure as soon as they saw evidence then they jumped all over it to save face. Where was Schultz at for the past 5 months once Bennett started talking about moving before the one year had elapsed...but on a brighter note maybe this was planned by Schultz cause he knew how dumb Bennett was as to sell the team not having to pay the crappy lease, finally get the government and fans clammering for a new arena then try to get the team back with the ball rolling after his attempt at a new arena was denied. This whole situation was messed up but I cannot honestly see a man as smart as Howard Schultz selling the team to a bumpkin who knows zero about the city, has stated publically after the Hornets ordeal he wanted a team in Oklahoma City, especially with how dumb Bennetts cohorts are with their remarks you dont think something was mentioned prior to the sell..but I can see Schultz not think there was over 50% chance of them moving..I'm just glad to see that there is this much support across the board to keep the Sonics, this will almost certainly make the state at least listen to Gordon and put this to a vote and hopefully the previously polled 2/3 of the state that said they'd vote no would reconsider and vote yes considering the arena upgrade would only need what 50 million in tax money after Balmers group investment and the extra tax left over from Safeco and Qwest being paid off early

Of course Schultz wasn't stupid enough to just sell the team, he did include that side letter requiring a good faith effort to keep the team in Seattle for a year after the sale. The way I see it, he at least suspected something was up. Oh and forget that stupid poll, there was nothing to it really since they didn't seem to see fit to ask anyone in my neck of the woods what they thought of the whole thing.

true on your point, but he also did only put one year and had to have realized they were going to move the team, a local owner couldnt get any support from the city or state to get an upgrade on the arena or a new arena he knew the chances of an out of town owner wouldnt either, especially one as dumb as Bennett...and I only bring the poll up is because that is one of the main reasons it hasnt and most likely will never get brought up on a house bill and its going to have to be private...is that there is just not enough support from people who have no interest in sports or specifically the NBA..there are still those who are pissed about Safeco Field and Qwest passing (both of which had huge oppositions) there are just 2 sides the ones who want the stadium build and the ones who will do anything and everything to either stand in the way or get it voted no, then there is the casual voter who isnt sure and as of a year ago a majority of them were leaning towards the no side, but will how badly Seattle and the state has been bashed throughout this whole thing I think it actually has helped out and rallied alot people together, as near half the people didnt care either way if they left now alot people just want to stick it to the NBA which will help us sports fans at least keep a team that belongs here and has history here rather than go to a smaller market or state that has zero history of ever supporting a professional sports team...either way it would be ashame if anyone in King County re-elects any of their officials as they are screwing each and every citizen over
