The Braves look to avoid the broomsticks as they play the second game of an afternoon doubleheader against the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Pirates used a solid start from Zach Duke as well as timely hitting by Freddy Sanchez and Adam LaRoche to beat the Braves in the first game. The Braves continue to struggle on the road and haven't mustered much offense this series, only scoring 4 runs in three games.
PROBABLE PITCHERS
Tim Hudson - ATL - 5-2, 2.90 ERA, 8 BB, 30 K
John Van Benschoten - PIT - 0-1, 4.91 ERA, 4 BB, 4 K
Tim Hudson has been lights out his past two starts, including a complete game shutout against Cincinnati on May 2nd. Hudson has only allowed two runs in sixteen innings his last two starts.
Van Benschoten is only making a spot start for the Pirates. He is a reliever that was called up on April 27th. He has made three appearances so far this year for the Pirates.
INJURY UPDATE
Mark Teixeira let the first game in the 4th inning with a back injury. Newly acquired Greg Norton took his place at first base and went 0-2. He will most likely start the second game.
Post your thoughts, observations, play-by-play and whatever. Just don't mention the first game please, my head hurts. Post your post game rants on the other thread I made. Positive karma only on this thread. Thanks.
