Fantasy Analysis
Van Benschoten, a first-round draft pick in 2001, was available out of the bullpen Saturday night, but is a candidate to start Wednesday at Cincinnati. This is Van Benschoten's second call-up this season. Earlier, he went 0-2 with a 9.39 ERA, making four appearances with one start. Until he finds himself pitching well in a major league uniform, Van Benschoten is nothing more than a risky NL-only Fantasy SP when up with the Pirates. Beam was sent down to the minor leagues just two days ago, but Osoria's injury prompted his quick return. He is 0-1 with a 19.29 ERA in two games, allowing five runs in 2 1/3 innings and is nothing more than a middle relief Fantasy option for deeper NL-only leagues. Morgan, who made his first opening day roster this season, was sent down for the second time. He has struggled offensively, going 6-for-42 (.143) with 12 strikeouts and is only an NL-only reserve at this point. (Updated 06/28/2008).
