Blackburn can't stop White Sox: Given one final start on Tuesday, Twins SP Nick Blackburn couldn't defeat the White Sox as Chicago is headed for the playoffs and the Twins headed home. Blackburn fell to 11-11 on the year as he allowed just one run on four hits over 6 1/3 innings. The one that got away was a solo home run from Jim Thome. He walked three and had three strikeouts. His ERA is 4.05.

Blackburn defeated the White Sox last Wednesday in what could have been his final start. He may have lost on Tuesday, but he pitched well enough to win and end his 2008 on a high note. He'll never get many strikeouts, but he has the potential to become a stable major-league pitcher. Consider him nothing more than a late-rounder in 2009.
