Wheeler goes long after blown save: Rays closer Dan Wheeler couldn't preserve the lead in the ninth inning Saturday in Game 2 of the ALCS against the Red Sox, allowing the tying run to score on a wild pitch. He ended up pitching 3 1/3 innings as the game went 11 total. He allowed one hit and two walks, recording four strikeouts.

In addition to the back injury, the 39-year old right-hander missed 42 games during three stints on the disabled list with left hamstring and right knee injuries.
