Elbow surgery ends Jennings' season: Rangers SP Jason Jennings underwent season-ending elbow surgery for the second straight year. Team physician Keith Meister performed the surgery Friday to repair Jennings' right flexor tendon, manager Ron Washington said. The 2002 National League Rookie of the Year had the same surgery last August while he was with the Astros. "You're always disappointed when you lose a pitcher," Washington said Saturday before Texas' game against Oakland. "We're happy he got this taken care of. But we're going to miss him because we were looking for big things from him." (Updated 05/31/2008).
Injury Report
Forearm - 15-day DL. Out for the season (Updated - 5/31/08)
Fantasy Analysis
Jennings, signed to a $4 million, one-year deal in the offseason, began the season in the starting rotation. He went 0-5 with a 8.56 ERA in six starts before going on the disabled list May 1 with a strained right elbow. He was 2-9 with a 6.45 ERA in 19 games for the Astros last season, when he missed nearly three months because of elbow problems. He was on the disabled list for two months early in the season with right elbow tendinitis and went on the DL again Aug. 21 because of a torn flexor tendon that required season-ending surgery. Feel free to cut him in all leagues. He has a long road back to Fantasy viability. (Updated 05/31/2008).
