Two of baseball's hotter pitchers faced each other Thursday, as Rockies SP Aaron Cook squared off with Diamondbacks SP Brandon Webb, who was riding an eight-game winning streak. Cook (6-2) was almost as hot as Webb. He had won a franchise-record six straight starts, a streak that began on April 13 at Chase Field. He wouldn't make it seven as Arizona won 8-5. Cook struggled from the start as the Diamondbacks greeted him with consecutive singles by Chris B. Young, Stephen Drew and Orlando Hudson. Young scored on Hudson's knock. Cook stranded runners in scoring position in the second, third and fourth. The Diamondbacks finally got to him in the fifth. Young led off with a double and scored on Drew's double. Hudson walked, and one out later, Snyder hit an 0-2 pitch 412 feet into the left field seats to give the Diamondbacks a 5-0 lead. (Updated 05/16/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
Cook pitched five innings, his shortest outing, and allowed a season-high five runs on 10 hits. He walked four and struck out six. Like they say, all good things must come to an end. Hopefully you sold high on Cook, who owns a career 4.31 ERA. He is having a good run as ace Jeff Francis struggles, but Cook has been pretty much an average arm throughout his career. It's hard to imagine him keeping up such a rapid pace. He is worth using as a No. 5 or No. 6 Fantasy SP in mixed leagues now, but were not sure how much longer that will last. His next scheduled start is for Tuesday against the Giants. Cook will be a two-start pitcher Fantasy Week 8 (May 19-25), if Colorado skips fifth starter Jorge De La Rosa. Cook's second start would then be against the Mets. (Updated 05/16/2008).
Cook gave up just one run and three hits to help the visiting Rockies to a 4-2 win over San Diego on Friday, sending the Padres to their 18th loss in 22 games. (Updated 05/10/2008)
Advice
