Brewers' Hall-Branyan platoon kaput? : The Sports Xchange reports The Bill Hall-Russell Branyan platoon is over is Milwaukee. Manager Ned Yost just won't admit it. Since late May, Hall has started at third base against left-handers and Branyan versus righties, a platoon that originated when Hall was batting .154 against righties. Branyan came up, socked 11 homers in his first 60 at-bats, and the platoon was solid. But the Brewers went through a stretch before the All-Star break when they faced six lefties in seven games, giving Hall almost all of the playing time. He got red hot, Branyan cooled off -- partly through just not playing -- and now Hall is starting even against righties. St. Louis has nothing but right-handed starters, and Hall has started the first three games, with the finale on Thursday. Yost refuses to acknowledge the platoon is kaput, however. "You can ask me about (Hall's) play," said Yost. "Just don't ask me if he's built himself back into the (everyday job)." (Updated 07/24/2008).

It looks like the starting job is back to being his. He can keep up the hot hitting, he should keep it for the rest of the year.
