The Sports Xchange reports that Orioles SP Adam Loewen got a positive prognosis when famed orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala., reported nothing is wrong with his sore left elbow. Loewen will begin a throwing regimen at Sarasota and could return to the Orioles sometime in June. (Updated 05/06/2008).
Injury Report
Elbow - 15-day DL. Out until at least early June (Updated - 5/4/08)
Fantasy Analysis
You don't often see good results coming out of a visit to Dr. Andrews, but Loewen was one of the lucky ones. The talented, but injury-prone lefty is nothing more than an AL-only Fantasy option at this point in his career. (Updated 05/06/2008).
Loewen visited an orthopedic specialist on Monday and came back with a clean bill of health, but it is still unclear as to when he'll return to the team, according to the Orioles' official Web site. (Updated 05/06/2008)
Advice
Loewen made just six starts last season before he was shut down due to a stress fracture in his left elbow. He appeared healthy in Spring Training, but struggled in the regular season. He went 0-1 with a 7.85 ERA in four starts, then complained of pain in his forearm before he was placed on the 15-day DL on April 25. Manager Dave Trembley expects Loewen to begin a throwing program that'll last about two to three weeks before he resumes pitching.
