Verlander just misses complete game: Tigers SP Justin Verlander (8-9) lowered his ERA for a ninth straight game Sunday as he limited the Orioles to one run on three hits over 8 2/3 innings in a 5-1 victory. Verlander, who now has a respectable 3.95 ERA and has an eight-game unbeaten streak, struck out three and walked three. He was replaced by Todd Jones after allowing his second walk of the ninth inning. Verlander retired 16 consecutive batters between a second-inning double by Luke Scott and a seventh-inning double by Kevin Millar. The only other hit against the right-hander was an eighth-inning single by Guillermo Quiroz. (Updated 07/20/2008).

Fantasy Analysis
It took Verlander a while to figure things out this season, but he's clearly back to being the ace he was last year now. He hasn't allowed more than two earned runs in a start since June 6, and is back to being a must-start in all leagues. In Fantasy Week 17 (July 21-27), Verlander will get one start vs. the White Sox on Saturday. In three starts against Detroit's division rivals this season, Verlander is 1-2 with a 4.43 ERA.
