Grudzielanek grabs career hit No. 2,000: Mark Grudzielanek led off the Kansas City Royals' third inning Saturday night with a single for his 2,000th career hit. Grudzielanek, who also singled in the first inning, hit a 1-0 pitch from Seattle left-hander Jarrod Washburn to center and received a standing ovation from the Kauffman Stadium crowd. Grudzielanek became the 18th active player and the 251st in major league history to reach the milestone. "I'm flabbergasted I've been in the game this long," Grudzielanek said before the game. "I'm thankful. Its an awesome accomplishment. ... There are not a lot of guys out there with that many hits and play that long and put up those kind of numbers, so I'm very proud of it."
