AL West Top Prospects

Los Angeles Angels
1. Brandon Wood, 3B/SS
Opportunity is there even if some of his 43-homer luster has been lost.
2. Nick Adenhart , SP (R)
So-so season might have tempered expectations, but he is still very young.
3. Hank Conger, C
Very young, but arguably the top long-term catching prospect in the minors.
4. Sean Rodriguez, SS
Has pop for an infielder, but he comes with K baggage, too.
5. Sean O'Sullivan, SP (R)
We wouldn't be surprised if he made Adenhart expendable this year.
Angels Season Preview

Oakland Athletics
1. Daric Barton, 1B
Numbers don't yet suggest he'll be any better than, or as good as, Dan Johnson.
2. Carlos Gonzalez, OF
Trade to Oakland opens up huge opportunity for well-regarded five-tool talent.
3. Gio Gonzalez, SP (L)
Acquired in the Nick Swisher trade, could jump Triple-A on fast track to majors.
4. Greg Smith, SP (L)
Should get a long look this spring and will at least be an early call-up this year.
5. Brett Anderson, SP (L)
Quietly an outstanding young piece received in the Haren blockbuster.
Athletics Season Preview

Seattle Mariners
1. Jeff Clement, C
Arguably baseball's top catching prospect but he'll bide time behind Johjima.
2. Wladimir Balentien, OF
After Erik Bedard deal, Balentien could have an opportunity to start this year.
3. Robert Rohrbaugh, SP (L)
Lefty made one of the biggest jumps in status with steady numbers.
4. Carlos Triunfel, SS
Numbers won't wow you yet, but he's a 18-year-old Dominican shortstop.
5. Phillippe Aumont, SP (R)
2007 top draft pick is headed to big league camp but is years away.
Mariners Season Preview

Texas Rangers
1. Chris Davis, 3B
This monster power prospect could move in if Hank Blalock gets dealt.
2. Taylor Teagarden, C
Big-time U. of Texas star finally hit stride in pro ranks; can he catch?
3. Kasey Kiker, SP (L)
Long term we like his chances to star over all of Texas' pitching prospects.
4. Eric Hurley, SP (R)
Rangers SP prospects are cursed, but perhaps this one can make it in '08.
5. German Duran, 2B
Nice power potential for his position, but he's seriously blocked right now.
