Rollins late scratch from Phillies lineup

 

NEW YORK -- Jimmy Rollins was scratched from the Philadelphia Phillies' lineup for their game against the New York Mets on Thursday.

The Phillies didn't immediately announce a reason for the change. Eric Bruntlett replaced Rollins at shortstop and in the leadoff spot.

Rollins is batting .270 with six homers and 35 RBI this season. The NL MVP hit .296 with 30 homers and 94 RBI last season.

Hopefully this move was made to get Jimmy Rollins some time to rest and refocus rather than being the result of another injury.

His hitting power numbers have dropped dramatically over the past month (.245 AVG 0 HR 9 RBI .688 OPS) and the Phillies will really need the 2007 NL MVP Rollins to show up for the rest o ...(more)
