    Athletics 3B Eric Chavez will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday. Chavez is on the 60-day DL after offseason back surgery. He took about 25 groundballs and early batting practice. "He had a really nice day ... moved very well," manager Bob Geren said. "It was by far his best day."

"All those guys are interchangeable right now," Geren said when asked Foulke's role. "Huston (Street) is the closer but (Andrew) Brown, (Santiago) Casilla, Foulke, (Alan) Embree, they can all be used at any time. Chad Gaudin's now down there too and he's thrown into every role too."

Milton Bradley hit a two-run homer off Eveland that gave the Rangers a 3-1 lead in the third. It was just the second home run Eveland has allowed in 47 2/3 innings this season. "Take away the two pitches I threw to Milton, and I threw pretty well," Eveland said.
