    News
Brandon Boggs, playing only his 11th major league game, recovered from an early hard crash into a wall to go 3-for-4 with a homer, a double and three RBI as Texas ended the A's four-game winning streak. Boggs was lunging for a foul ball near the left-field corner in the first inning when he stumbled and slid on the ground. His right knee slammed into an unpadded part of the concrete side wall and a small pipe running along it. He remained down for several minutes before finally getting up, wiping off his torn pants after what he later described as "probably one of the hardest crashes I've had."

The Rangers placed right-handed pitcher Kevin Millwood on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right groin on Sunday before Texas' game against the Oakland Athletics. The Rangers called up right-hander Doug Mathis from Triple-A Oklahoma to take Millwood's roster spot. Mathis is 5-0 with a 3.55 ERA in seven starts for Oklahoma, but will pitch in relief for Texas. The Rangers won't need another fifth starter until May 20 at Minnesota. A.J. Murray and Luis Mendoza are the likely candidates to join the rotation.

    News
Rangers SP Vicente Padilla pitched into the sixth inning Monday against the Mariners, but a no-decision kept him from his sixth victory, which would have matched the American League lead and equaled his total for all of last season. After allowing one earned run in his previous three starts, including Wednesday when he limited Seattle to two singles over seven scoreless innings, Padilla gave up four hits and five runs -- only two of them earned after two Texas errors -- in the first inning Monday. He left after allowing six runs -- three earned -- on seven hits and one walk in five innings, striking out two.

Bradley left with a sore right shoulder, lifted in the seventh for pinch-hitter Frank Catalanotto, whose RBI single made it 10-6.
