Gosh, they swept the Pirates. It's like 2007 all over again! ... The Rockies have been hot at recently re-un-dehumidified Coors Field (9-1 in their past 10), but let's see what happens during a three-game series against the Dodgers. During it, they'll trot out Kip Wells, Ubaldo Jimenez and Glendon Rusch to the mound. Prediction: Medic!

They have tended to do great things with their young talent, but we cannot see trading Matt Holliday this July as something that makes sense. Dealing Todd Helton is another story and frankly should be the move that is made.

All of the June returns from the DL were supposed to bring this team back from its awful start. Nope. Unlike the other cellar-dwellers, they at least have an amazing run last fall to ease the current pain and still have a solid young nucleus to work with -- save for trade bait Todd Helton still being around. What point does Clint Hurdle get held responsible?

The return of most of their everyday lineup has helped in June, but they really need to find some pitching. It will be interesting to see which hitters, if any, become pitchers before July 31.

The DL is getting a little smaller with the return of Brad Hawpe, the expected return of Matt Holliday and perhaps Clint Barmes in a little bit. They are far closer to the team they were in the second half last year than the one they are in the first half this season.

They have hit Rock Bottom, pun intended. What a long, hard fall from the NL pennant. Perhaps it is their penance for that dance with the devil last fall.

Unlike some of baseball's other struggling teams, they actually have some excuses due to injury. It was a rough weekend where Matt Holliday, Brad Hawpe and Clint Barmes went on the DL.

Garrett Atkins (.344 on the season and nearly .400 in May) should be considered one of the most underrated sluggers in baseball right now. Hey, can he pitch

Their offense will heat up with the temperatures in the mile-high air, but we don't see that helping the suspect pitching much. Boy did things look a lot better in that month from mid-September to mid-October.
