--LHP Doug Davis will return to the rotation Friday, six weeks and one day after he underwent surgery to remove a cancerous thyroid. Davis was 1-1 with a 3.72 ERA in his two starts with the Diamondbacks before surgery. Davis made two rehab starts for Class AAA Tucson, going 1-1 with the same 3.72 ERA.
--RHP Micah Owings struck out a career-high 10 in seven innings in a 3-2 loss at Florida on Tuesday. Owings' previous high was nine, set when he went 6 2/3 innings in an 8-1 victory over Colorado in his first start of the season April 4. Owings made his seventh quality start in his nine outings.
--INF/OF Chris Burke has six hits in his last 20 at-bats after struggling through an April in which he was 5-for-39. Burke had his first two doubles in the last homestand, doubling and walking and scoring twice Sunday. "It has been good to get in there and make some contributions," Burke said.
--RHP Brandon Webb will attempt to become the first major league starter to win his first 10 starts since San Diego's Andy Hawkins in 1985 when he pitches Wednesday against Florida. Eddie Cicotte won his first 12 starts for the Chicago White Sox in 1919, the infamous Black Sox.
--2B Orlando Hudson extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a two-hit game, his fifth multi-hit game in that stretch.
--C Chris Snyder hit his second home run in four starts and his third homer in May on Tuesday. He is hitting .366 with seven extra-base hits and 10 RBIs in May.
BY THE NUMBERS 39 -- Consecutive days the Diamondbacks have held or have been tied for the best record in major leagues, dating to the second week of April.

Outside of weak hitting, the bullpen is probably the biggest problem the Diamondbacks have. It also might be the hardest to figure out what to do to solve the problem.
Do the D'Backs, start over? Do they keep Cruz and Brandon Lyon who are free agent
