Jamie Walker didn't fare well in his first rehab appearance, but he's close to a return.
The left-handed reliever was battered at Class AA Bowie (Md.), allowing three runs on five hits -- including a home run -- in just one inning of work.
"I gave up some rocket-ships. Nothing was down," Walker said from the Orioles clubhouse Friday. "The adrenaline kind of got going, you know?"
Walker will throw for Class A Frederick Saturday, and if he improves upon Thursday's appearance, could return to Baltimore by early next week.
Walker has been out with left elbow inflammation since June 26. After making 81 appearances in his first year in Baltimore, Walker has been less effective in his second, allowing left-handers to bat .382 with six home runs in 55 at-bats.
ANGELS 6, ORIOLES 5: The five runs that Brian Burres allowed in the first two innings didn't help the Orioles' cause. Being forced to come back night-after-night isn't a good recipe for winning, and the Orioles' bullpen should be commended for allowing just two hits and one run over 7 1/3 innings.
