Manager Ozzie Guillen's hope last week in Southern California was the latest facelift he gave to the starting lineup would be a temporary one.
And while he still didn't like the look of it on Tuesday, Guillen now seems willing to ride it out as long as the team is winning.
"Believe me, if we continue to win, yeah," Guillen said. "That's my job. It's to put the best team out there to win games. I gotta take advantage of the guys swinging the bat real well right now. That's what the manager is supposed to do -- try to get those guys to swing the bat and get the best out of them.
"Then when things turn around, you switch. It's not the ideal lineup, or the one we thought would be the best in the beginning, but if it continues to work, that's what I'm gonna stick with."
That's also why Alexei Ramirez was back in the starting lineup, starting at second base. Reserve Pablo Ozuna had a career .400 average against Tribe starter C.C. Sabathia, but in Guillen's what-have-you-done-for-me-lately mind-set, his rookie from Cuba is the one swinging the hot bat.
As far as usual starting second baseman Juan Uribe, he was still receiving treatment on his injured right hamstring. His return is still a question mark, but Guillen doubted that he would need to send Uribe to the 15-day disabled list.
"He's day-by-day like everybody else," Guillen said. "No, I don't think (the DL is a possibility) right now. He's not that bad."
WHITE SOX 4, INDIANS 1: The Sox have now won six straight, but the latest victory was impressive for a few reasons, starting with beating Tribe pitcher C.C. Sabathia. The hefty lefty was a career 7-0 with a 2.69 ERA in his 11 previous starts at the Cell, and that changed quickly as Carlos Quentin hit a solo shot off of him in the first and then Jim Thome got one an inning later.
That was all Sox starter Jose Contreras (5-3) needed, with the veteran going six innings and handcuffing Cleveland (22-23) for one run. The bullpen did the rest, with Bobby Jenks eventually recording his 11th save.
"C.C. was pitching; we had an off day (on Monday). There were a lot of reasons there for a bad night, but it didn't happen," first baseman Paul Konerko added. "Right now we feel like the game is a lot shorter with the bullpen. It feels like if we can get to the sixth inning with the lead, it makes it an easier night."

I know we've been bashing PK on this board (especially me), but I can't root hard enough for this guy. He's gotta be ready to pull his hair out over this season. Glad to see him get the single tonight. Unless he's really hurt, he'll figure it out at some point. He's probably more surprised than anybody at this year's performance.
