--In winning six of seven games on the homestand that ended Thursday, Indians pitchers had a 0.70 ERA, and their starting pitchers had a 0.16 ERA.

--LHP Aaron Laffey has not allowed an earned run in his last 21 innings, covering his last three starts. Laffey is 2-2 with a 1.35 ERA in four starts since replacing injured RHP Jake Westbrook in the starting rotation.

--LHP Jeremy Sowers will be recalled Friday to make a spot start in that night's game in Cincinnati. The Indians are expected to designate for assignment OF Jason Tyner in order to make room on the roster for Sowers.

--LHP Aaron Laffey gave up a run in the second inning. That snapped a streak by Indians starting pitchers of 44 1/3 innings, the longest such streak by Indians starting pitchers since Bob Lemon, Gene Bearden, Sam Zoldak and Satchel Paige combined to throw 47 consecutive scoreless innings in August 1948.

--SS Jhonny Peralta, who had not hit in the No. 2 spot in the order all year, has hit second in the past three games. He went 4-for-11 in that stretch, all against Oakland.

BY THE NUMBERS
13 -- Number of leadoff home runs in the first inning hit by OF Grady Sizemore in his career. Kenny Lofton holds the club record with 18.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"He's proven he can pitch like this. I mean we're not talking about one or two starts."-- Manager Eric Wedge, after LHP Cliff Lee pitched seven shutout innings in a win over the Yankees to improve his record to 6-0, with a 0.81 ERA.

Laffey is done for the year because of mild inflamation in his left elbow (throwing elbow).  Doesn't sound too serious, and the Tribe is saying it's not from being overworked (threw 155.1 innings this seaon between AAA and ML)....but we'll see.  Hopefully they're right in saying that it's just 'mild' inflammation, and it doesn't turn out to be anything more than that.....

Hafner's shoulder is keeping him out of the lineup in Buffalo. He's supposed to play again Thursday as DH, c'mon, if you can't handle DH duty.......

This story isn't looking too good for Pronk.

1.Zach Jackson someone remind me why he is in our rotation, he doesnt do anyhting except give up 3-6 runs a game.

2.Is it just me or is Ben Francsico seeing limited playing time? Why would he be benching him hes batting 280 with 14 homers and 51 rbis. Anybody have an answer?
