The rain that postponed the Yankees game in Detroit did more than give them a day off -- it gave them a chance to skip the potential horror of another Kei Igawa start. But it also complicated their rotation for the coming week.
The Yankees planned to push their starters back a day, which would allow them to skip Igawa in favor of Darrell Rasner on Thursday against Tampa Bay.
As appealing as that might sound, it presents further questions for Friday's series opener against the Mets.
Would they then pitch Monday's starter Andy Pettitte on short rest?
Or skip Ian Kennedy (whose turn at Class AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre was rained out Sunday too) on Monday to save him for Friday?
That, of course, would put him right back in the middle of primetime in the opener of the Subway Series, and might not be an ideal target for a return.
In any case, there's plenty of questions for Joe Girardi to figure out this week, likely with some help from general manager Brian Cashman.

What a coincidence that when the Yankees start winning, all of the Yankee haters start yapping. Could this be a sign of fear or insecurity about their own team? It's just amazing how they come out of the woodwork when
Does anyone know if there having trouble signing Gerrit Cole and Jeremy Bleich? Cole looks like a pretty good prospect and if you watched Bleich pitch in the college world series, he looked like a promising lefty.
