--Jody Gerut was recalled from Class AAA Portland to replace the released Jim Edmonds. Gerut, who finished his Pacific Coast League stay on a 23-for-52 run, started in center and threw out Todd Helton trying to go from first to third on a single in the second.
--C Colt Morton was optioned back to Class AA San Antonio and the Padres called up Portland backup catcher Luke Carlin to backup Josh Bard. Morton let a fastball skip under his glove in Atlanta Thursday afternoon resulting in the tying run.
--LHP Sean Henn was claimed by the Padres on waivers from the New York Yankees. When Henn reports Saturday, the Padres will either option LHP Joe Thatcher to Portland or release LHP Glendon Rusch.
--LHP Shawn Estes, who was recalled from Portland on Wednesday (4-2, 3.67 ERA) has been named to start for the Padres next Tuesday at Wrigley Field in Chicago.
--Although his stay in the rotation lasted only one start, LHP Wil Ledezma has impressed Padres manager Bud Black. Black said Ledezma's role in the bullpen is going to be upgraded as part of the 6-7-8-inning package.
--3B Kevin Kouzmanoff hit a solo homer in the ninth Friday night after hitting into a pair of double plays earlier in the game. In both those situations, the Padres had runners on first and second -- once with one out and once with no one out.

Looks like Wolf was traded today to the Astros. Padres received a AAA pitcher (reineke) who was not doing too well (5-9 with a 4.41 ERA). Let's see if Giles and Maddux follow them out the door here. This could turn out to be an even more embarrassing season. H
