Here comes Omar Vizquel.

The Giants continue losing games (four in a row now), but fan favorite Vizquel could return to the lineup as early as Saturday after he went 4-for-13 in minor-league rehab games.

If nothing else, he could be a draw. It's not as if his bat is going to put the Giants over the hump. He hit only .246 last year, and now he's coming off left knee surgery, which he had Feb. 22. Plus, he's 41.

Vizquel is 13 games from tying Luis Aparicio for most games played by a shortstop (2,583).

Another shortstop, Philadelphia's Jimmy Rollins, came off the disabled list Friday and homered to help beat the Giants 7-4. Vizquel isn't expected to contribute in the same way. He's a defensive specialist, though it's uncertain how his defense will be because he's initially wearing a brace over the knee.

In Vizquel's absence, shortstop has been occupied by two rookies who played Class A-ball last year, Brian Bocock and Emmanuel Burriss. Bocock was the shortstop initially, playing solid defense but doing little on offense. Burriss showed up later and proved to be a more all-around player, considering he's a switch-hitter with speed.

So to make room for Vizquel, the Giants optioned Bocock to Class AAA Fresno and kept Burriss, who had three hits (including a triple) Friday and made a nice play to retire Pedro Feliz in the fifth.

PHILLIES 7, GIANTS 4: The Phillies scored three times in the eighth to break a 4-4 tie and go up 7-4. They got a boost with the return of Jimmy Rollins, who came off the disabled list and had three hits and homered Friday off Pat Misch. The Giants, who blew a 4-1 lead, have lost five straight and are eight games under .500, a season high.

With the Yankees losing Posada, I would think Bengie Molina would be on their radar.

If they are interested, we should demand they take Zito  and we would pay half his contract.  If they are willing to take Zito, I dont care what we get in return.&nbs ...(more)

Hey guys,

I know pitching is not a pressing need, but NY Yankee needs a SP badly after Wang got injured. I'm not sure if Yankee will bite, but I'd love to have this guy.  Wang is currently on DL and probably will not be able to pitch until next yr. He's 28 and had won 19 games in the past 2 seasons. Our pitchers are so young, perhpas getting Wang will give us more exper ...(more)

Sabean, nice job getting rid of Ray and his 7.5 million. Now we just need to dump Visquel and Roberts combined 11.5 million and we will really have something.

If we can rid ourselves of these salaries and not finish in the cellar it will be a good year.

Jack Tashener, Pat Misch, Backup catcher for Molina and Castillo for Greg Dobbs, I think that is his name, backup 3rd base for Feliz and one of the Phillie catchers

This helps the Phillies out with pitching and some backup for their loss at 3rd base an
