--INF Ben Zobrist will be reinstated from the disabled list for Tuesday's game. He had been out since fracturing his left thumb early in spring training. To make room for Zobrist, the Rays designated INF Andy Cannizaro for assignment.
--OF/DH Jonny Gomes isn't getting much playing time so he is trying to take advantage of what he does get. He worked his way into the middle of their first three rallies Monday and scored three runs.
--2B Akinori Iwamura extended his team-leading hitting streak to 10 games and continues to play good defense. He is the only regular starting second baseman in the American League without an error. Manager Joe Maddon said Iwamura is starting to find his rhythm at the plate.
--C Dioner Navarro has been a quiet key to the Rays' success, and with three more hits Monday raised his average to .362.
--Manager Joe Maddon said the co-MVPs of the first six weeks of the season would be reliever J.P. Howell and shortstop Jason Bartlett. "J.P. has really held the entire bullpen together, and Bartlett's really solidified our defense," Maddon said.
--OF Rocco Baldelli, on the 60-day disabled list with a muscle fatigue disorder, has resumed full workouts after missing about two weeks with an infection.
BY THE NUMBERS 5 -- Games over .500, at 21-16, for the first time in the franchise's 11-season history.
