--CF Vernon Wells (fractured left wrist) and RHP Jeremy Accardo (strained right forearm) on Saturday were placed on the 15-day disabled list. The Blue Jays recalled IF Joe Inglett from Class AAA Syracuse and purchased the contract of RHP Armando Benitez. To make room on the 40-man roster for Benitez, the Jays designated RHP Tracy Thorpe for assignment. Wells will be lost to the Jays for six-to-eight weeks.
--RHP Dustin McGowan allowed six runs in the first inning Saturday, the most runs a Jays starter has allowed in one inning this season. McGowan lasted just 3 2/3 innings -- nine runs on nine hits -- which marked the shortest outing by a Jays starter this season.
--In 14 games since coming off the DL, 3B Scott Rolen has recorded a hit in 11 of those games and is hitting .320 (16-for-50) over that span.
--2B Aaron Hill wasn't in the lineup Saturday night, marking his first day off of the season. "He could use a break; he's been in there every day," manager John Gibbons said. Hill has been really struggling at the plate of late and the day off may be the mental break he needs more than anything. Over his past 19 games, Hill has batted .189 (14-for-74). The odd thing about his slump is that Hill says he's feeling good and seeing the ball well. "I don't feel like I'm doing the things you usually do when you're in a slump," he said. "I don't know what you'd call it. It's a slump but it's not terrible. It's not where I want to be but I'm seeing the ball. You've just got to stay mentally strong because this game will get you if you let it get in your head."
--With Sunday's game postponed because of rain, the Jays and Indians will play a traditional doubleheader Monday with the first game set for 4:05 p.m. It is the first such doubleheader for the Jays since Sept. 29 of 2004 vs. Baltimore. In that one, the Jays lost both games.
BY THE NUMBERS 32 -- Number of different batting lineups manager John Gibbons has employed over the Jays' opening 38 games.
QUOTE TO NOTE "Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did." -- Jays manager John Gibbons after a 12-0 loss to Cleveland Saturday.

The Blue Jays are in Baltimore to face the O's in a 4 game set. The Jays have a chance to cement the Orioles in the AL East basement with a series sweep. And the way the pitching matches up, its very possible.
This is a little game done on a bunch of NFL boards...

Jays have been playing much better as of late and look to keep it going against the lowly Mariners. The bats have shown some life recently also, especially Lyle Overbaby and Adam Lind.
