Marion wants to be back with Heat: Shawn Marion has informed the Miami Heat that he would like to remain with the team despite the fact he has a player option to terminate his contract in the offseason. Marion appeared in 16 games with the Heat before going down with a minor back injury. He averaged 14.3 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.5 assists in those games. (Updated 04/30/2008).
Injury Report
Back - Expected to be ready for 2008-09 training camp (Updated - 4/17/08)
Fantasy Analysis
Marion will be back with the Heat next season because there is no way he gets a better deal than the 17-plus million he has coming to him in the final year of his contract next season. It will be interesting to see how the Heat incorporate Marion, Udonis Haslem and possibly a player like Michael Beasley out of the draft -- all three power forward types. Marion was moved over to small forward some by the Heat this season and that could be the role he employs next year for the Heat. There is a possibility that his rebound totals could decline as a result of all the power forwards in the mix, but he should still be drafted in the first couple of rounds in most leagues. His overall production makes him even more valuable in Rotisserie leagues than in head-to-head formats because he fills up the box score nightly. (Updated 04/30/2008).
