Atkins went into the season as a real sleeper as he was pegged to be the starter at point guard for a very high-scoring team in Denver. But the injury forced the Nuggets to pursue other avenues and eventually resigned Anthony Carter to play the point for the better part of the season. Carter will be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason, but has said he'd like to return to Denver. This means that Atkins has about a 50-50 chance of being named the starter in 2008-09.
