Williams draws one-game suspension: Atlanta forward Marvin Williams was suspended one game without pay for committing a flagrant foul, penalty two in the Hawks' Game 7 playoff loss in Boston. Williams, who will serve the suspension in his first game next season, knocked Boston's Rajon Rondo to the floor with 9:09 left in the third period of the Celtics' 99-65 victory on Sunday. Williams, trying to prevent a breakaway basket by Rondo, put an arm across Rondo's chest and knocked the guard to the floor. Rondo lay for a few minutes while Celtics coaches and teammates checked on him. After reviewing the play, officials threw Williams out of the game. "I saw it on TV and it did look pretty bad, so I can't argue that at all," Williams said Sunday. "I just want Rondo to know that I would never try to hurt him." (Updated 05/07/2008).
Injury Report
Suspension - One-game suspension. Out for first game of 2008-09 regular season (Updated - 5/7/08)
Fantasy Analysis
In his third NBA season, Marvin Williams averaged career highs in scoring (14.8), (rebounds 5.7) and field-goal percentage (46.2). He also appeared -- and started -- in 80 games for the first time in his career. Williams' numbers were just a tad bit better than his numbers from a year ago and the big breakout season we've been waiting for the last two years is not likely to come now with Mike Bibby, Josh Smith, Joe Johnson and Al Horford around to share the load. Fantasy owners can consider him a pretty decent No. 3 Fantasy forward with solid upside, but his chances of becoming a No. 1 forward type in Fantasy hoops are likely over for now.
