MOST VALUABLE PLAYER
Though he had a new, often-confounding injury issue and struggled with his shot as he rarely has in his career, Tracy McGrady's value to the Rockets became as clear as ever. He remained the team's best playmaker and, when Yao Ming went out, was the only Rockets player who could reliably get his own shot or create shots for teammates. Though his seventh playoff appearances ended the way the others had, with a first-round loss, it added to his legacy as one of the top-scoring playoff performers ever. He seemingly grew stronger as the series progressed.

MOST DISAPPOINTING PLAYER
Still enormously popular in Houston and thought to be in position for a career revival in a homecoming to where his career began as the celebrated "Stevie Franchise," Steve Francis struggled through a second consecutive season limited and then shut down early by knee issues. He had a sensational, throw-back night in closing out a win in Phoenix but struggled to even crack the Rockets rotation. When Rafer Alston was out with a pulled groin, Francis broke down after three games carrying the extra load. He eventually had season-ending surgery and began rehabilitation that he hoped would allow him to revive his career.

FREE AGENT FOCUS
Rookie forward Carl Landry is a restricted free agent but has said he wants to return to the Rockets, and the Rockets have said they want him back and would match any offer he receives as a free agent.

Center Dikembe Mutombo is a free agent and the Rockets would bring him back if he wants to extend his career, but he has said he will again consider retiring in the offseason.

PLAYER NOTES

--G Tracy McGrady had not made half his shots in a game since March 8, a stretch of 20 regular games and four playoff games, before he made 13 of 26 shots in the last two games of the series. He scored 40 in the series finale to stretch his streak to 10 consecutive playoff games in which he scored at least 20 points.

--McGrady underwent surgery May 6 on his left shoulder and left knee.

--G Rafer Alston ended the playoffs the way they began, out with an injury in a Rockets loss. The Rockets lost the first two games of the series with Alston out with a pulled right hamstring, and they lost Game 6 when Alston was forced to miss the second half with a sprained right ankle. The Rockets won two of the three games he was able to start and finish.

--G Luther Head finished the series making just 1 of 14 shots and missing all six of his 3-pointers. He made just 11 of 36 shots in his previous playoff appearance.

Does anyone think now that the Bobby Jackson trade was a mistake?  He stunk it up in the playoffs.  I think he had 1 good game out of the 6.  I believe Bonzi Wells and Mike Jame ...(more)

Am I the only one that thinks they need to work Steve Novak into the lineup a little more next year. I know he doesn't play great defense but man everytime he comes in he hits 3's. He reminds me so much of Matt Bullard back in the day when we won the championship. He would come in and hit a couple three's and fire everyone up w ...(more)

I can see that sman1965 bothers almost every team on their message board. While trash talking is fun, just seeing this guys posts makes me fell like I am back in the 3rd grade.

I am proposing a boycott of any thread he starts, and to any posts he makes on other threads as well...

Maybe he will start to talk smart sports conversation or maybe he will jus ...(more)

I know many of you will disagree with me but last nights win was a prime example of why McGrady isnt a dependable star player.  With the Rockets up by only a few points and the ball in their possession McGrady gets bumped hard by Kirolinko(sp) away from the ball.  It being a very very crucial possession you would think he would p ...(more)

No Yao, 22 straight, and a trip to the playoffs.....Rick Adelman was a lock for coach of the year, but they gave it to the "feel-good" New Orleans story.

I think you guys are gonna win the next two and take the series....just a hunch.

So, hopefully a bunch of Jazz fans don't crucify me for this thread but how many of yall think that the Rockets are going to win this series, because I do.

22 wins in a row and a playoff birth but in the end injuries finally took their toll.  In the end Alston was out for 2.5 games of the series and Yao was out, T-Mac  was beaten up and Shane Battier had a bad foot.  Not to mention Carl Landry ...(more)

here's my first thought...

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF REBOUNDING???

what good is Mutumbo if he doesn't rebound

and stop causing confusion and loose balls if you can't keep them from gaining from it!

This site rocks.  You get a free starting balance to bet on any games.  If you work it up to $10 or more, you can cash it out and get a check in the mail.  There are no catches and NO DEPOSITING is even allowed on the site.  If you lose your first bet, you don't even go to zero balance.  They give you your starting kitty over and over again.  This is a lot of f ...(more)
