If the Lakers can't control Utah point guard Deron Williams a little better, they'll probably be facing a Game 7 Monday night at Staples Center. Williams will look to stay hot Friday night in Game 6 in Utah with the Jazz on the brink of elimination.

Williams had 27 points and 10 assists in Game 5 against Derek Fisher and Jordan Farmar even though the Lakers were determined to keep Williams out of the lane. One thing Williams will hope to shore up: He had four turnovers. Another thing: Williams will certainly be trying to make teammate Carlos Boozer (6-for-16 field-goal shooting in Game 5) more efficient.

"We missed some shots that we normally make," Williams said of Game 5. Williams also took pride in Utah committing just four second-half turnovers after the Jazz had 15 in the first half.

LAKERS 111, JAZZ 104: The Lakers had to break from tradition and win without much Kobe Bryant scoring, but they did win that way -- taking Game 5 of their second-round series with the Utah Jazz on Wednesday night at Staples Center to take the series lead. Bryant still had 26 points and seven assists despite his sore back.

But there were plenty of big buckets by Bryant's teammates in the fourth quarter, none bigger than Pau Gasol's follow-up dunk of Sasha Vujacic's 3-point miss with 20.5 seconds left. Gasol's basket gave the Lakers a 107-102 lead, and he finished with 21 points, eight assists and four blocks.

Bryant had three fourth-quarter points, all on free throws in the late going. Lamar Odom had seven of his 22 points in the fourth period. Utah shot just 8 for 24 (33.3 percent) in the fourth quarter.

Breathe a sigh of relief Lakers fans, the Machine resigned according to hoopsworld.com.  A 3 year $15 Mil deal, while I was opposed to give Sasha that much money, we do absolutely need him and if the Warriors can over-pay for Ronny who is a class act, we can show Sasha the s ...(more)

According to the OC Register, he has drawn some attention out there.  Maybe this is why talks between the Lakers and him have been stagnant.  If Sasha gets a ridiculous offer from Europe, I think we should cut ties with him.  I love his tenacity, his range, his development and his heart but I think our 1offer at $2.6 ...(more)

What the Lakers need is a backup big man who can defend and rebound. That's all! Not score or pass. Just rebound and defend. Wait let me be more specific. A healthy big man who actually plays, HINT HINT Chris Mihm. What a waste of a roster spot for the last 3 years. I'm ...(more)
